Why is it so hard to remove features? Because user complains? Reading Antifragile; there is this idea that evolution works via negativa. We should applaud to any removal of dead parts, even Google Reader, yes.

If your codebase is a bit more complex than hello world, a single helpful error message is hard to do right, because if you have a crash it should mean something unknown happened that you cannot fix at coding time. So it is better,

Yes but no, in many cases you do not want to fail fast and loudly. If a corner case in a minor module crashes all the pages of your app, you better fail silently, and log.

> Silicon Valley dream That's interesting, because most of the technical focus is on scalability, and this "Silicon Valley dream" is so very much not scalable. The "American dream" had more scalability potential, don't you think so?

Yes, I thought so too times ago, but when your numbers become more complex things, and one has overridden gt(), and you need to debug in a hurry, because what you are trying to do is not even remotely related, then the verbose vers

Well, if you appreciate the current work of MusicBrainz team but foresee the possibility of them going commercial, maybe you could, meanwhile, link or redirect to their official http://musicbrainz.org/ site. That could be a fair solution

Just yesterday I wrongly typed musicbrainz.com, looking for the powerful open source music tagger. It appears to be in the list. I don't mind grabbing a few bucks from a big Corp when they forgot to get their domains, but I find it

Sorry, but in France and in China, the two countries I have lived in, it is easy to buy relatively cheap food that is not produced "efficiently" from food industries. Example: - bread, cheese and wine in France. I mean the cheese, not the p

This made me think that often giving money is not the best way to help. Microcredit has been tried and don't fix everything. A development economist made a strong point showing that micro deposit was more likely to be helpful, for example i

You are not too far from carving your header in a JPEG file there. Some may remember good ol' times when most web sites did so. It was the same reason: someone decided the size must be fixed for the header to be following a fixed grid or co

With C-r you need to first type C-r, then type your search key. With the OP's inputrc nice hack, you first type the begining of your command, and then up. To me it is very different.
