So the article is arguing that we should take the safety net away rather than businesses paying their employees more? Insane.

I was involved with a superconducting qubit setup where we had a compiler written in python that converted a DSL to binaries that were loaded onto an FPGA, which generated control signals and read out results that streamed over pci/e.

Look at the amount of Delphi code being written as a fraction of all new code being written, today and 20 years ago, and tell me how the Delphi community hasn't been ruined.

Yann was (actively or unintentionally) refusing to participate in the same conversation. His response was the "facts don't care about feelings" one. It's not wrong but it is a thought terminating cliche.

Saying that Bernie was cheated isn’t exactly right but also not exactly wrong. The entire news media apparatus beat him down with a lot of extremely bad faith questions. “Do you support confiscating everyone’s guns?” “Ok so do you think gun

Sorry but what exactly is non-political news? I’m convinced that people who talk about “politics” as a thing external to them are just refusing to engage with the parts of the world that are uncomfortable to them.

This is ignoring all the high-speed cameras and lab equipment for characterizing the electrical and rheological properties of the ink you shoot through it...

It's the nozzle. Let's suppose you really wanted to design your own nozzle... you could use something like MUMPS, which is $5,800 for 15 dice, plus 100 for each additional. You have to wrestle together 15 people to pay 400 bucks (

Differential equations are “trivial” to simulate until they aren’t. Some differential equations feature conserved quantities or invariants that will blow up over long times if you don’t build their conservation into the numerical solver. So

These are SDEs. Mathematica doesn’t solve them. In the end I needed a way for a computer to solve them faster, as an analytical solution wasn’t really possible. Mathematica wi never provide such insights. Maybe one day it will?

When I was a grad student, another student was trying to simulate a particular stochastic differential equation. He spent a few weeks writing a parallelized solver, learned to use MPI, and distributed the computation over our school’s clust

Chemistry leads the pack in toxicity. See E.J. Corey. Physics is pretty okay these days on average, though I've heard of a few icky groups.

Basically if I want technical questions answered, I'll post on EEVBlog. If I want to talk about how these dern kids and political correctness blah blah blah (I don't), I'll go on ham radio general/technician bands.

Ham radio, the way boomers practice it, is very expensive and gatekeepey. I don't have money for some fancy expensive SDR. Also, I'm sorry, but the ham radio community these days is not actually that technically savvy. Most largel

I'm curious if ARM sees RISC-V as serious competition. I'm under the impression that the instruction set makes efficient and performant implementations rather difficult.

So they stop reading once they get to the message in the article? You're going to feed the message to conservatives like wrapping a pill in cheese and giving it to a dog? This is both infantilizing and doesn't work.
