The naive course of action is to maximize utilization instead of productivity. This is the message that is beaten to death in the book The Goal ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Goal_(novel) ) , if you imagine that t

Yeah, he should obviously have someone read these things first. Although in his defence, since he actually lived through WW2 he might have a more nuanced sense of fascism, versus the simplified pulp fiction version of 20th Century history t

I've seen a one guy sucker punch another over a woman, dropped him straight to the floor. All three were total strangers to each other, also everyone was probably drunk though. I agree that it is unlikely, but it isn't beyond the

there is the "APA" car buying service in a couple major cities, if you pay them <100$ they'll get some firm quotes for whatever you're looking at. I've never used it personally but I've heard 2nd hand that i

You also have to consider that when the drives eventually fail, they will be replaced with hard drives of the future -- which will presumably be cheaper than the HDD of today. I.e. they depreciate quickly.

Yeah, I've always been disappointed at the lack of statistical information that hosts provide about drive failures, especially failure correlation in RAID situations. When I'm trying to price out some servers on a typical bare met

The BEP suggests that torrents that do this should include a public key in the original torrent, and then the update must be signed with the corresponding private key. So the idea is if you trusted the original you should trust the update.

Yeah, the \ is swapped with the backspace key, which unfortunately I use a lot. The 66key has it in the normal place, but HHKB moved it south. HHKB has the ~ on the right top which is different as well.

Also Leopold 66 key keyboards are almost as austere as HHKB, but they have an arrow cluster with similar placement to laptops. I have the 66key touch mini, it isn't bad but I like the HHKB a little better and it's hard to go back

a quick linkedin search indicates that Steve Yegge might be better described as Google ex-engineer since he apears to be a manager but still at Google. [versus ex-Google engineer as stated in the article.]

yeah I came to the same conclusion, except lines 327/328 confuse me a little bit, as to whether the fee goes to the miner in this case, since on 328 (regular termination) it says so explicitly, but on 327 (exhaustion) it doesn't s
