To answer the title: They aren't make more land, but they are making more people. And people like to live where it's nice and they can get jobs. I don't think land values are a Ponzi scheme. From a supply and demand perspecti

While that may be true, it’s only part of the situation here. Residential schools in Canada were part of a system by the gov of Canada to eliminate/assimilate the First Nations people. Many argue this was genocide.

In the US I’m assuming the CIA? Not sure what group manages this in Russia. To be fair, gp could be applied to many countries also including China, Russia, the US and I assume the UK.

Although bringing some batteries to market this year indicates it is quite far along. Most of the battery/energy news I’ve seen on hn is “breakthrough will hit the market 5+ Years”.

Great article. Brings me back. I also learned something, I thought it was an ne2000 driver as in "any 2000" as in "it works with all these generic network cards."

Where I live the numbers your suggesting would be amazing! In Vancouver proper, Average 3 bedroom house price is $2.1M. A townhouse or condo of that size is $1.5M. Your typical house payment is going to be much higher than $1500/month.

No. I'm making two points: 1) Bikes aren't environmentally free either. Over the lifetime of each is the environmental impact of an ICE car -> EV the same as EV -> bike? Maybe not percentage wise but the data I've seen

Ah. interesting. I generally agree and fully support this method of urban planning, but the results here haven't resulted in more cycling. What you describe is exactly how my suburb is set up. There are several clusters of mixed housin

I live on the west coast in Canada. We have lots of bike lines. It's 30KM of them up and down multiple hills (most people would consider mountains) for me to get to work. Realistically, you've got to convince me to leave my 3000+s

It's all fun and games until your next whale of a customer asks for your SOC report. Then the auditors are asking you to prove you've audited your code and dependencies. They ask "who has access to customer data? Who can depl

I live near the forest. Deer constantly eat our garden. I've seen motion sensors products that hook up to a sprinkler but I'd much prefer this tuned to deer with a water cannon instead of a laser.

Making CQL SQL-Like was the worst possible thing the designers could have done. Newbies want to do SQL joins and filtering with it until they've been a few times. C* is essentially scaled/automated MySQL Sharding and blob storage.

I’m in Vancouver. We haven’t closed our schools at this point so my perspective is of how we move forward and not fixing what’s broken with those locked down today. I’m more thinking at the grade school level. My kids have started exploring

Agreed, except for one point. Please don't call it a windfall. Anyone in that company that would have seen life changing amounts of money has likely put incredible effort and hard work into making this happen.

That's the thing. If you're in the market for a Tesla priced car today, buy a Tesla. It's amazing. In 3+ years re-evaluate the DC charging networks when you're ready for your next car.
