For what it's worth, this was what happened to me. They regularly send marketing emails and updates, which I skim from time to time. It wasn't until I saw this thread that I realized that one particular email out of the ( actually

My problem with this is the automatic opt in, using my profile and details for more than I intended for them to use it for (regardless of whether I technically signed something staying they _could_ do this, it is borderline unethical to use

And this should have been opt in, not "opt out within a week or else we'll dump your info and association with us onto the internet."

This is horrible, what a breach of trust. I used TB to stealthily interview for jobs, had a good experience. Recommended them to others. Now I see that if I hadn't seen this post, I wouldn't have known about this and those details

The Economist did this to me. $5/mo and then auto renewed at something like $250/yr. All my credit cards are just auto pay full balance every month, and I don't check them as often as I should. Noticed the charge last month,

I don't think they are saying it was, unless I'm misreading. They're talking about standard ECS deploys. Yo add my anecdata, I do lots of ECS deploys via terraform into production and it works pretty seamlessly.

I restart my computer pretty infrequently and everytime I do, I can't connect to various things. Inevitably I realize I didn't run ssh-add and after debugging, things work again once I have run this command. But I never really loo

With Amazon this exact chain of events happened to me. And also confirmed that they don't really give you that status unless you click through the app. In the end, it took five days to get something I ordered as same day delivery.

Sure, but when the astronaut application job posting recently came up, I was super excited. I would leave my technical job in a heartbeat to be an astronaut. But, the qualifications specifically needed specific things. Like, iirc, degrees i

This looks pretty cool. When I was learning Go a long time ago, I used a site called Gophercises and found it really helped me understand the language better.

As part of trying to provide benefits one would normally get in the office, we provide unlimited Doordash for lunch/dinner. I would prefer to order from places directly, but the choice is either free for me but I order through DD, or p

Given the time zone difficulties and inefficiencies it brings, I wouldn't consider hiring anyone outside of the time zones that span the Americas. Totally okay hiring someone in Brazil or Peru or whatever, but not France or Eastern Eur

Even just east coast versus west coast kind of sucks and leads to inefficiency if product teams are spread across those timezones. I've done some work with west coast Europe, it's bad, 8am meetings so I can catch them at 4pm, yuck
