Never heard of it either but I like it. I assume their heads are up in the sky and coming up with product ideas that are very far out there.

Not really when all they check is the solution output. They just ask politely knowing cheaters gonna cheat.

The puzzles are up year round. You can go back and do prior year puzzles any time. There just won't be any of the community from doing it during the event.

Yes. In the story it sounds like they talked their manager out of putting them on Pivot (aka PIP): > I wasn't put on Pivot. My manager wanted to work with me a little bit to see if I was going to commit to the job. So they sat me

I think Ryan Dahl (creator of Deno and Node before that) is trying to make it stand out from Node which has a very small standard library. So they are including common things that used to be in many separate modules.

The manager was probably mad because they wasted a PIP on someone else. From other accounts here I've seen that if your manager gets any inkling that you are leaving they will throw a PIP on you to meet their quota.

How loud is it from Isla Blanca? I'm bringing elementary aged kids. Should I bring headphones? Anything else I should bring?

I'm planning on making a very long drive to see this. Is there a viewing area? I realize it's a Big Falcon Rocket and will be probably be heard from anywhere but is there a designated spot? How close can we get?

It used to be a standard $1k - $2k upgrade to get the navigation system which I imagine was highly profitable. It certainly didn't seem like any car manufacturer put much effort into it. Sometimes they could even get you to buy $300

I don't think VC money cares whether you are soft on the employees. They are there to buy as big a slice of a small pie before it gets big. Anything you keep for yourself or give to your employees is pie that could be theirs. If they

The startup system is pretty rigged against accidentally making anyone rich who is a mere employee. That money is for the investors, not the working class. The days of the office assistant making millions on stock are long gone. There

It's kind of silly but at my work we're using Gather. Walking your little pixel art character around the "office" is silly at first, but it's really lowered the friction to short video interactions. It's way l

Great story. So in the end the tickets got dropped? Also, why get an entire domain to host a short blog post? Based on the copyright of 2004 and a .com tld registration of $10 per year someone has spent $190 to put this story out there.

I've been going through some of this after inheriting all my parents stuff. I feel some guilt about tossing so many things that they hung on to so they must have valued them (but I don't feel enough guilt to keep all this stuff).

Using those flies to drum up sympathy is going to backfire. On a trip to SLC we hiked up Antelope Island. In the morning it was chilly and there were no flies on the way up but oh my we were getting attacked on the way down. Half of the h

My guess at the Postman-alikes. Postman has evolved way past its original usefulness and is aggressively trying to push enterprise features and anything to make the business sustainable. I'm not mad at them for that but eventually you

It can be pretty bad especially for UI updates that you are used to being handled client side. Example: You click on an upvote button and it changes color, but there's 1 second of latency. SPA: Color updates immediately, the "upvo

Jose's reply suggests the basics have Elixir equivalents. I can't really speak to that side but I can say the usability story is much much better. The last time I gave Jupyter notebooks a go it was a full session of installing and
