I think it's the resolution that will kill dvd's. 55" TV's are now entry level. A cinefile in ten years may well have an affordable laser projector filling and suddenly see the merits of 4k.

In the USA... In the UK, for instance, even old copyrights tend to run from the death of the creator. So it's still a long wait for a Hitchcock film.

DC-8 a 1950's jet in 1968 so modern buoyancy may not have applied. Everyone made it to shore without getting wet and the airplane was back in the air within a year. Remarkable.

Cynical archeologists say King Arthur did not exist but looking for him is now you get funding to find the history that did once exist.

I thought the article on the meaning of "energy transition" was more interesting. The idea that oil is reliant on steel and steel on coal is a thought. https://www.economist.com/culture/2024/11/10&#x

Aberdeen Angus Steak House is a real group of central London restaurants. They are famous for expensive bad food. Supposedly making a fortune from jetlagged tourists. Reddit is praising them as a joke. This is confusing automated AI helpers

Seven years, December 2031. That's when the patent expires, the kinks and side effects will have been found/ironed out and it becomes a cheap plentiful generic. I'm healthy enough to wait.

<In 2010, renewables generated just 7% of the UK’s power. By the first half of 2024, this had grown to more than 50%> Electricity not power just to be pedantic. Most power is still from directly burning gas and oil.

Then there is Drax a vast coal plant now burning wood chips cut from foreign forests, dried and shipped across the ocean in bunker oil fueled cargo ships. That counts as renewables. 7% of our electricity today, more than solar. I am actual

"But if one make could build something like a Willys Jeep EV" Look up electric mini moke. Exactly what you are describing. Rich man's toy mind. If there's a Chinese knock off it could be very cheap though.

Last few, rare, times I visited there was always a special on the app that was reasonably priced. Some large burger for 99p or something. So there is some price discrimination. I do miss their 35p ice cream cones in summer
