If you're running a 4 TB Postgres database, but you still have to worry about this level of maintenance, what's the value proposition of using a hosted service? There's usually insane markup on any hosted Postgres instance. I

Does anyone know if that liquid is jam packed full of Bisphenol A, since it's stewing in direct contact with the edges of the can? I'm always suspicious of that.

You seem to be mixing up cause and effect. The reason COVID hasn't been so bad is because of all the special preventative measures. It's super contagious, still sends 10% of people to hospital, and is killing 1-2% of people. Sitti

Yeah, this bit me in the ass too. They close bugs that are valid but they just don't want to fix, so looking at their bug tracker gives you a misrepresentation of their project. It's a poor practice, and I've been hit by bugs

When did this change? You need to codesign/notarize your application lest users get the super scary warning that tells them to move it to trash when they try to run it. Apple literally tells your users your app is garbage unless you pa

The reason we don't use space observatories as much anymore is because we have adaptive optics now and don't need them. The concerns of astronomers are real. It's not for Starlink to ruin our ability to observe the sky for al

This is a garbage analysis that ends up with a plug for vitamins and t-shirts. You don't write off a journal for making mistakes. Retraction is part of the scientific process. What this YouTuber failed to mention is that there were alr

It's the motherboard prices that will make the difference. Intel motherboards are always super overpriced, and you have to buy a new mobo with every generation.

I know when I try to use my competitors trademarks in my Google Adwords, Google rejects my ads every time. It's typical Google bullshit that DoorDash gets a free pass here.

They want you to use Google Sign-In, so Google can lock your users into their SSO. The more locked into the Google ecosystem people are, the easier it is for them to keep their search ad monopoly in the long term.

The Mac App Store is a trap - The sandboxed APIs are severely limited, and no large company is going to let Apple get even more in-between them and their customers.

You guys are missing the point. It will be very difficult to access healthcare for the next 3 months because the system is going to be so overwhelmed by COVID-19 cases. There will be no available hospital beds.

No and no. 1) Epidemiological papers usually estimate the true number of cases, based on an estimate of the percentage of cases getting tested. The definitely include this in their outlook, and have correctly predicted the outcome of the ep

You don't need to rely on the data by the Chinese government, for several reasons: 1) Lots of epidemiological papers about the Wuhan epidemic use data from phone carriers (not the government) to track the spread and make predictions, a
