I'm not aware of where large cash transactions are banned, but if they are surely it's because cash is largely untraceable. Meanwhile bitcoin is easily traceable, and the IRS is not afraid to crawl the blockchain to piece together

Tax evasion is no less real of a crime than other financial crimes. And in any case the parent post mentions taxes, so I think the numbers are still relevant without excluding it.

0.5% of Bitcoin's volume is illegal activity. [1] 11%-12% of the USA's economy is illegal activity. [2] If you wanted to commit a crime or evade taxes, probably the dumbest thing you could do is record permanent evidence on a publ

I think decidose would be even less accurate. A normal dose is 3g-5g. A microdose is 0.1g-0.2g. That's not a ratio of 10. At least microdose has a widely-agreed on colloquial meaning.

I'm curious, what is the business justification for funding development of Demucs, if you don't mind me asking? It doesn't seem very related to FB's core business.

To be fair that's how a lot of software worked in that era. MS Office worked that way too (doc files, not docx files).

No, this attack wouldn't work on bitcoin. Bitcoin chooses the chain with the most total work (which is blocks x difficulty), not the most blocks. Else someone could fork the chain from a block sometime in 2009 when difficulty was very

I wouldn't want anything killing pods every time there's a network timeout. That sounds like a quick way to turn a tiny problem into a huge problem.

This article isn't about the app called Microsoft Teams. It's about a lowercase-T team of people.

If someone is trying to escape their local currency, they won't want an on/off ramp. In foreign nations with a large underground USD economy, people skip the local currency and trade/spend USD directly. The same could happen

My theory is that the likelihood someone understands the use cases is inversely correlated to their trust in government. For example: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-60912789 These articles all follow a common patter

I wonder if these wild valuations could be kept in check if there were a way to short/buy puts on private companies. There's positive pressure on valuations from the funding, but scant negative pressure. Scooters-as-a-service can
