Double acceleration is fine - don't be worried about future may-or-may-not-exist acquirers when you're getting started. don't negotiate for them before you meet: they can negotiate some of it away if they want at the time of sale.

A corollary: Github is the first thing we look at when someone applies for a job and we do a cursory review of it before reaching out to an engineer. The door swings both ways though: forking lots of projects / not understanding Git are red

I tried to be really clear on this that I am talking about online startups. But I think you missed the point: It takes a lot of money (VC or otherwise) to create companies that go public, but it doesn't take much to create a great product.
