Very amoosing. The cherry on top is that the backend is in Rust.

Is Reddit fighting the bot problem? They introduced a feature to hide post history which makes it hard to know whether you’re interacting with a spammy bot account. If anything they’re embracing it.

I’m also a “text myself” kind of person. I’m using my own chat-based notes app called tetrify, which is now adopting the Matrix protocol for sync.

Flutter developer experience is top notch. The best place you can see this is by comparing the experience of upgrading React Native vs upgrading Flutter. Flutter Web with WASM is also very cool. If you’re using a bespoke design for your app

“You may click to consent to our and our 824 partners’ processing as described above.” it’s a quirky text transformation website, how did we reach this point?

Many European labor laws came to existence thanks to their workers movements, which were primarily driven by, ehm, unions.

This is impressive! After Realm depreciation I have been trying many different offline sync options, they are especially few on Dart… Dart-Rust binding generator is pretty great though so it’s nice this is in Rust. Will keep an eye on this

Schengen thing should be working like this but more and more I have been asked for ID/passport, usually by the airline before boarding or local police acting as border guards after arrival.

The new built-in translation in Firefox works pretty well! I never need to fallback to others, although forcing it to translate has weird UX.

Yeah I have thought about more user friendly Violentmonkeh before. This sort of thing just needs to be open source and non-profit, there isn’t even much upkeep to it. At what point will the investors want some form of return? This is built

My app is for chat-based notes[1] and I have been wanting E2E local-first sync on it for a while. Switched from Realm to SQLite after it was deprecated but never found a good non-niche DB SDK for it on Flutter. Tried to handroll sync + AES-

Zero-trust syncing of notes data. Honestly an overkill for the purpose but more of an ideological and educational goal.

This could be exactly what I need, AES GCM field-level encryption support is a godsend. Unfortunately seems like it’s planned and not ready. If I hadn’t just finished rolling out a sync feature built around the Matrix protocol, I would hav

I wanted to give it benefit of the doubt but the same poster has an identical AI “Interesting point about X” comment in a different thread. This checks out.

Right now it's prime time for a bunch of "European" tech (which still very much depend on a ton of non-EU infrastructure and code) to start shilling for their "EU alternatives". It's like the new local buzzword

I’m sure in a nice community cafe you could just ask them to hold onto your phone if you really wanted to. This is one of those Silicon Valley things where everything needs to be commodified with some nice branding and an app offering a sol

Agree! I finally set up my own NodeBB forum for my app support and I'm very excited to move in this direction. It was a nicer experience than expected.

Continuing my 2+ year project of building a texting-based productivity app. Started as a way to get a grip on Flutter and local-first sync for mobile, ended up being my by far longest running commitment. Still really enjoying it. https:&#x

Apple mainly checks for obvious malware API calls on device, it would really be out of its scope to check the backend security for every app ever.

Agreed. Apple also has the category of Time-sensitive notifications which is available to all apps and would fit fine for this usecase. Worst case one would need to direct users to add the app as a Do Not Disturb exception.

Hi all, tetr has been my solo passion project for more than 2 years now ever since I got a craving to expand something like the Note to Self feature I have been using on Signal to an entire ecosystem. It’s not just a barebones chat but a cu

I think “correspondence UX” can be bad UX but there’s nothing inherently wrong with chat UI. I created the tetr app[1] which is basically “chat UI for everything”. I did that because I used to message myself notes and wanted to expand it to
