You are not the only one. "The cloud" is neat, but not for everything. It also has privacy problems as we all know. One advantage to web-based code editors is that you have it everywhere you have an internet connection. There'

There's also haxe-dom-bootstrap [ https://github.com/Blank101/haxe-dom-bootstrap ] if you want type safe access to Bootstrap stuff. Pretty cool. Use this by itself to make single page apps or in conjunction with som

True. It's just kind of an idiosyncrasy I've noticed among these "easy, magic" frameworks. Those things do usually get ironed out, but they are a barrier and probably something that could be easily thrown into an install

I like your suggestions. I have tried and quickly abandoned so many of these new dime a dozen frameworks. They claim to work like magic, but, usually right off the bat, with the "hello world" example, I find myself thinking, "

My family is definitely going to be doing this next month when our Sprint contract is over. I'm also going to port our phone numbers over to Google Voice to avoid any future porting fees. The abysmal world of mobile phone carriers seem

Very cool, but there's one thing I don't understand. Do you need to stream JSON objects from a server to make this work? You have to get a response from the server in some kind of streaming protocol right? Or... Is this just readi

Eh, quite the opposite actually. Even pre-ICS Android made me feel like I could actually do something with the OS. I could completely change the way it looked by simply downloading a new homescreen from the store. iOS feels like being locke

There are many who have always pronounced it 'jif'. I thought it was strange when I first learned that there are people who say 'gif' with a 'G' sound.

Good point. In the US we have Jif peanut butter. That's where the name comes from. The slogan was "Choosy moms choose Jif." And so the .gif slogan is "Choosy developers choose Gif."

Yes, for some reason folks get so upset at me when I tell them 'jif' is the author-intended pronunciation.

I don't know why, but I've always said 'jif'. 'gif' sounds so wrong to me. Same with Quake players saying 'gibbed' instead of 'jibbed'. The 'G' sounds makes me throw up a little.

People do this? Like put unfinished clumps of code out in the wild? GitHub is not your personal backup drive! Along the same lines, what is the point of the "it builds" widgets that I'm seeing lately? Unless you have some kind of stable rel

I switched to BitBucket a while ago and have been so happy. It has free private repositories, HG or Git, and most other important features that GitHub has. Everything about GitHub is great except for the fact that you have to use Git.

Steam users are used to this. You buy a game and then wait a day while it downloads. No big deal. Steam even pre-loads some games before they're released so that you can play them immediately when they're available.

As someone who watched many episodes of LOST in a single sitting every night for weeks, I can guarantee you that waiting for the next episode is not what made LOST addictive. edit: I agree though that it might kill some of the "watercooler-
