I'm no language designer either, but I would guess that since Crystal wants to be 100% type inferred, they feel that having to type "var" or "let" is just boilerplate.

Yep, same with the keyboard problem. I've never had that problem in my apps because I always use the attribute that lets you scroll a view if the screen is too small to show it all.

General not-so-tech-savvy consumers are scared of their data getting stolen if it's in the cloud.

That's cool. I didn't know that. That'll be good to remember if I'm ever on Jeopardy. :) What led to that admission was all the built up stress of trying again and again to have fun while writing. Eventually I didn

I used to think I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to write novels and wonderful fictional worlds. The idea of crafting stories that people would eventually enjoy was very exciting to me. I tried and tried for years, but I could never write

A WPF like framework for each platform would be very nice. Code the interface three times and share back end code between them. I also like Xamarin.Forms' way. Describe, in general terms, what you want the interface to look like, and i

The C++ and Xamarin stuff is native. Take a look at Xamarin.Forms. It looks very nice.

Android and iOS development in VS will be done via Xamarin, Cordova, or C++. That's why you don't see Maven or Gradle support anywhere, there's no Java involved.

I have to switch between both at my job, and hardly ever notice when I do. Sometimes I'll start to write an If wrong and get squiggly red lines, but that's about it.

Java more sane than Lisp? I guess it's a matter of opinion, but I'd much much much rather write Lisp syntax than Java syntax.

ClojureScript already exists! So do Elm, Funscript, Purescript, Haxe, and a bunch of other things which transpile (might as well just start calling it "compile" now) to JS.

Yeah, would be nice if this launched a little web server on your device with a temporary url for people to connect to. I feel like this is how social networking should work too, but that's a whole nother story.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Even I, (young, unseasoned) know that criticism, admonishment and even a little "I told you so" do not equal hate. Ugh, that word.

I don't even use Emacs, and what you just described sounds like Emacs. That said, LightTable is a lot more noob friendly than Emacs.
