A minor bug: words in italic do not have a space before and after them, as they should do. For example: http://www.slaverystories.org/harriet-jacobs/1 This is a great project.

It's not impossible, but it can be extremely difficult. Consider a short story published in a literary journal last week. Allow a copyright system to exist that covers each eligible work for 30 years by default, and allows multiple ext

I am not a lawyer, but I am fairly confident that trademark law would apply even where copyright did not. That is, because Mario's likeness is a trademark of Nintendo, you might not be able to use that likeness in a video game, even if

This idea is floated quite often in reformist discussions of copyright, but I think it would be a huge headache. I have worked with public domain material quite a bit. Currently, anything published in the United States prior to 1923 is in t

I don't think the article does a terribly good job of arguing the point, but I agree with the thesis in so far as it applies to my very limited experience. I made A Soft Murmur [1] without ever having written a line of code before. (Th

MtGox started as a Magic the gathering card exchange. While it's caused some snark, it didn't seem to get in the way of MtGox being the premiere BTC exchange for a while.

Who writes the profiles? Is it possible that a field partner of Kiva writes the profiles? That might explain the similarity. They might well i) use a template to create the text, and ii) seek out loan candidates who match a very specific se

The Paisley Rekdal poem referenced in the beginning of the article is "Bats" [1]. Can anyone find a copy of the plagiarized version by Christian Ward? I'd be very interested in seeing it. [1] http://www.poets.org&#

It's worth bearing in mind that bitcoin might never have reached the position it now holds if early adopters had not spent their coins as freely as they did.

Thanks for following up. The system is quite sensitive to connection issues as the cross-fading only lasts 5 seconds or so. Glad it seems to be working now.

There's actually a feature built in to mimic cross-fading; it must have not worked for you, and that worries me a little. What browser and OS are you using please? It's not possible to do true seamless looping with HTML5 audio, bu
