Have there been any laws introduced or even rumored to be introduced to change transfer pricing of assets among international corporations? From my research, there hasn't been so what exactly would they be lobbying for?

Because optimizing taxation isn't the only aspect to running Google efficiently? I thought that would be obvious.

Pretty sure the loopholes predate Google by a long time. All it is is transfer pricing, something that multinationals have been doing since there have been multinationals.

How were they displacing musicians? If I'm in a place and I go see $BAND, I would assume I'm going to see $BAND, not some random local band.

Wouldn't metadata in this case be like "Ip X connected at Y and transferred Z bytes"? Similar to what a pen register produces with a phone call.

I wouldn't think think low level delivery guys in Manhattan have that much to worry about. The types of customers he presumably was delivering to aren't the types to go buy an illegal handgun somewhere and then mug a delivery guy

Why wasn't the request similar to requests that Lavabit had received previously? They appear to have no problem turning over the data stored for a specific user: https://www.docketalarm.com/cases/Maryland_District_

I don't understand this. Is this something that you just blindly send your email to and then they save it for you? There's no indication of how you get access to it, or what is sent when you submit your email. Or really why you wo

I wouldn't really call that trivial compared to enabling a VPN connection in most operating systems (i.e. clicking on the vpn icon and saying enable). Also it appears to require root access on the remote machine which would make it dif

Its not trivial (afaik) to route all traffic over an OpenSSH connection on most platforms is it? I mean you can have it act as a SOCKS proxy without much trouble but there's no easy way to route DNS lookups over it is there?

At that point they are violating the existing law. Seems like it would be pretty trivial for a pissed off neighbor to report them then.

Assuming the people who rent out apartments comply with the existing law, they will have to rent out at least 2BR apartments, the supply of which is already very low, and live in the 2nd bedroom while their guests are there. Do you really t

Does GoDaddy control that much bandwidth compared to some hosts like Hurriance Electric/OVH/Hetzner/etc? Also GoDaddy was recently (past 5 years I think) bought by a private equity firm, so the owner cashed out via that rathe

Just curious, do you just use EC2 and do you dynamically scale the number of machines you use frequently? All the math I've done for a constant number of servers/instances shows that unmanaged dedicated or colocated hardware comes

When do you have to check the provenance of 200 tarballs to install X? If you install from an ISO, you can install the ports from there too and you have checksums which are automatically checked, right? So if you do cd /usr/ports&

AFAIK ports checks the checksum of the file when it downloads it against the checksums the ports maintainer submitted. For the ISO mirrors, I don't think there's anything automatic, you have to manually run sha256 on the file and

For a company that doesn't have a market presence or a product yet? If this was Bell Atlantic rebranding as Verizon or similar, $50k does seem quite cheap. I doubt many (any?) startups have paid $50k to come up with a company name sinc
