If it was AI-generated I had no difficulty with it, certainly on par with typical surface level journalist summaries, and vastly better than losing 2 hours of my life to watching some video interviews.. :) AI as we know it may not be real i

Same old world thinking.. Google use single PSUs too, real redundancy came from having multiple machines, and Hetzner certainly makes that cheap enough to accomplish on a budget. You can also pay for 10 Gbit as an option with Hetzner, and a

You're in a very unique position to render a great public service just now - could you point in the direction of the secret storage used for the database key on Windows? I tried to locate it before but could not. Since that DB is about

Did I trigger you by picking DEI as an example? You can find a million alternatives from e.g. the Firefox<->Google relationship. No need to start name calling or whatnot

I'm not so sure, becoming dependent on corporate funding means importing corporate policy. Is it really necessary for a DEI policy being required to appear on ntp.org, or perhaps the sudden advocacy of some proprietary protocol crapwar

I used this app over the weekend, it's actually quite handy. Can't help but notice those priority boarding and seat selection buttons while checking for the gate number. You can also order food from your phone in the cabin using s

Meh, you might be lucky and get XGPON first, at least Virgin is already primarily rolling it out, no idea about Openreach. I'm living abroad and have 350 mbit up by default. It's considered crappy for the area. Max you can get on

Somewhat unrelated, but you just tied wasteful software design to high it salaries, and also suggest a reason why Russian programmers might also seem to on the whole be far more effective than we are I wonder if msft simply cut dev salaries

Stopped making sense for the mass hosting use case, but it is still wildly useful for setting up and tearing down during dev work, especially when hacking on the kernel itself, which you can trivially attach GDB to

CloudFlare page rule or similar to a custom internal URL with the max request timeout jacked up as high as possible (or whatever) set, stick a little async web server behind it that hangs every request after the first byte for say.. 1 hour.

The EMV standard has long supported an offline transaction flow. AFAIK it was the default almost everywhere in Finland circa 2011, contactless there was almost always instantaneous. Digging into why that was compared to the invariable wait

the A7R has a background FTP function but the problem is Wifi is deadly unreliable and low bandwidth for transferring huge files. for camera automation I've found it much easier to write to SD card then handle import in batches

There might be surprisingly little value in going tape due to all the specialization required. As the other comment suggest, many of the lower tiers likely represent basically IO bandwidth classes. a 16 TB disk with 100 IOPs can only offer
