I think this hits on one of my biggest complaints with the Elixir and Erlang ecosystem. As a high level toolkit for building distributed systems it's great, but if you need to do something more low level you are often left on your own

Maybe not exactly the same, but the B mode on hybrid cars sound similar. When you are driving down a large hill (e.g. on a mountain) eventually the battery will become fully charged, so you can't use regenerative braking anymore. To pr

How would you suggest to store and calculate things like taxes? For example in NYC the retail sales tax is 8.735%. Obviously the final amount could be stored as an integer in cents, but I'm talking about the tax rate and the calculatio

Are you talking about a safety razor[0] or a straight cut razor? I also switched, and find I cut myself a lot less than with a cartridge razor. If I do cut myself it is usually not so deep. The cartridge razor I used was Gillette Fusion, so

Does anyone have any reading material on how the simulators work? Do they run the same computer hardware as actual aircraft, or is it all simulated? If it's simulated, how do they avoid the issue of a bug not being present in the simul

The death of any loved one is hard on any family, but IMO a quick, relatively painless, death is definately easier. My mother-in-law died from cancer a few years ago, and after many months of pain and constantly in and out of hospitals, whe

Reliability of trains in the UK really varies by route. When I was studying and when I first started working I extensively used mainline routes and had no issues. The last train I could take on a Friday night was 10pm, but given it was a 3

I feel that overall much didn't change in the past decade in the tech world. Bitcoin is a great example of that, there was a big bubble where you could raise money just by mentioning Blockchain, and then just as quickly it faded away.
