It's also worse in Norway, and not just that but even remote places in Norway. It's going to be everywhere, isn't it? Where exactly is housing cheap now?

Same here. I even uninstalled the apps - they don't work anymore. I installed a HN app instead. It's lowered my screen time. Win win, I guess.

I've been using it as a scripting target for both games and other things I'm not allowed to elaborate on simply because it can transpile to C and C++. It's just really really nice to be able to manage the underlying run-time

Let me just add that perhaps we can sandbox python too? LPython is on the frontpage now and if I read it right, it will compile to C and C++ when targeting AOT. See: https://lpython.org/blog/2023/07/lpython-no

I don't know about the entire script. The game and game engine has tens of thousands of lines of code that is not script. But, I feel like it opens creative doors to be able to make (lets just say) a magnitude more calls into the virt

Really hoping for something that can output static ELFs for amd64, 32- and 64-bit RISC-V, as well as AArch64. WASM is not always an ideal architecture. Python is notoriously "impossible" to build static programs for. There's

For me, Vale would need to be able to produce static executables the way Go does, without pulling in a kitchen sink of DNS and curl+dependencies type of libraries.

I'm also making a game from scratch and reinventing wheels. What is the processing that you are doing for GLES? I see the GLSL_PREPROCESS in the GLSL.

I'm doing it right now and I kind of envy my colleagues that are doing normal work. There are times when I enjoy the ability to focus on things that really interest me, but the paper writing and publishing processes really suck. Also,

I have the same experience. All the tools at my disposal including mutrace for measuring contention, I just feel like C++ is a solid language. Sure, I wish there was more compile-time stuff, like the ability to force a function argument to

You're kind of forced to. I have tried to do userspace emulation using a vmm in amd64, but it's a bit hard. It is possible to handle exceptions in userspace, but you can't do page table modifications because many important in

Can't help but agree. I especially don't like removing ring3 I/O port access. It was/is the fastest way to trap out of a VM without SYSCALL or some other mechanism that I could measure. Segmentation also has its uses, an

It's always available, across time and distros. Despite it being a bit aged, it works well, and even though process management is a pain, it does many things right. There just hasn't been a strong need for a new terminal scripting

It's an open secret that social media and engangement metrics has created something that we don't know how to undo now. No media whether it be news or entertainment will show you anything but what they think gets extra engagement.

There is a locked version of XCHG that behaves atomically. I believe that if you swap memory locations that lock is implicit, so maybe you are not just swapping registers?

It's not a trick to use XOR to swap variables. XOR is a code pessimization. You should be using std::swap or just use a temporary which generates proper machine code. Most instruction sets have exchange which is 1 instruction. I guess

I think as long as FetchContent works it's super easy to try out your library and see if its something that should be pulled in as a real dependency. I have heard that FetchContent can make something unreliable, as in dependent on havi
