Very nice app indeed, its offline maps allow me to just leave the phone at home when riding my bike. Also some very useful features like backing up the on-watch settings, allowing you to restore them if you ever have to reset your Watch.

It may not run to completion in the future, that’s true. However, if it’s something as simple as a shell script or a shell command list, it’s at least relatively transparent. Unlike, say, tasks on Azure DevOps. Not a fan of those.

Hm, it’s different for me. Since at work I don’t really do the Continuous Integration/Delivery stuff (or anything with “real infrastructure”), I find it very enjoyable to fiddle with it at home. There’s no pressure to accomplish anythi

But the main problem with Teams is its low-performance GUI (Electron-based). And from what I hear about Discord, it's the same there. There's other minor problems like insane chat latency, but I can work with that. Voice and Video

On code blocks, you can have syntax highlighting. However, inserting them is a pain and you have to manually select the language. Ich course, everything still sucks, yes.

How is this even remotely comparable? The article mentions the switch occurs when patients are unconscious. They cannot give or deny consent. When you go see a doctor and it isn't a doctor, you can just leave.

A separate domain name for static assets would not receive any cookies of the actual site. This means less data transferred and in theory a proxy closer to the user could more easily cache these requests, even for multiple clients.

Cannot offer any data on that but I experimented with a SD TV series episode. HEVC and AV1 ended up at the same file size (few kilobytes difference) but encoding AV1 took over 10 times as long using rav1e.

Nothing lightweight with any solution involving the IntelliJ platform, lol. Still, you're better of with the specialized IDEs. Some of their functionality is not available as plugins for IntelliJ IDEA, even though it would probably be

Could you expand on what you mean by "bucket based"? Maybe the so-called "tables"? They sound pretty identical to ipset on Linux.

Yes, it probably wouldn’t irreparably sink or something like that. Still, specialized recovery work would take even more time. Not to mention the possibility of containers falling down. Best to take it slow and steady.

They backups are probably fine (as in “the data is in there”) but there may be no plans on how to restore them. Or they may be incomplete. I doubt any external factors are to blame.

The only way someone could arrive at the conclusion that “write simple code” is superior to any clean code principles is when they have already “absorbed” and perhaps transcended these principles. What does this tell us? It takes a mature d

Sure it is. However, teachers/mentors may be just a tad to dogmatic and pupils/juniors may just be a tad to inexperienced to properly grok when to do what. And it sure is easier to just not argue about it and abstract everything.

That’s not the case here. What you describe is basically compression in “solid blocks”. `xz`, however, is (in practice virtually always) fully solid. It allows greater compression efficiency at the expense of random access, which is not pos

You assume that whoever reads the code next already knows Tailwind. They do not. Tailwind might be simple, but it is undoubtedly opaque. A CSS class defined in the same application is not.

Dunno about guided bombs, but cruise missiles have been using some pretty fascinating techniques to navigate before GPS was a thing. It's probably hard to find CPU specs, because they're defense technology.
