The interesting thing is going back and looking at the posts (linked in TFA) of people who knew at the time who he was, and that he got flipped. Those are the people who actually know what they're doing and probably won't ever get caught, o

Good point, Apple is literally the only other company that has ever filed a patent lawsuit.

The only people this matters to is people who count how many times the speaker says "um". Toastmasters types. The rest of us can see the forest for the trees.

There's a case to be made here, perhaps, but Mr. Cox sure isn't making it. I recommend against paying him any more attention than he's already getting.

Selling things to the general public seems like a series of depressing lessons about human nature, particularly of the sort "people say they won't do/don't like x, but reality begs to differ."

I thought the hippie's goal was to sleep at night, now we have to compute the global utility function of his whole existence based on what Starbucks is doing? How does this apply to what raganwald is talking about? Perhaps this extension of

Right, all those communities are garbage because they were mean to you. But you're still gonna make your little game from the images and ideas those communities traffic in. So, what does that make your game?

Well, from that standpoint why should Windows ever change? MS shoulda just stuck to shipping security updates for Windows 95, apparently.

This generational griping ignores the difficulty the current generation of young people face. The country they inherited is not the bountiful one the authors' generation did. I say this as a recently-young person who has moved across the co

I totally agree. Large, dumb firms in capitalist economies have many of the same bureaucratic inefficiencies and silly management theories. We tell ourselves that they'll suffer for it, but in reality they can become too big to defeat. Comc

I don't get it. This is like leaving your front door open, and then when a burglar comes in, going "See? I knew you'd do that!" Then he takes your stuff anyway.

I don't know much about OSM, but I saw a comparison of the new map tiles in iPhoto with the same place in Google, and Google's seemed much more detailed. I know Apple is doing this to remove dependencies on G but I fear it could be a bit of

That's too bad. I held off on the original iPad because it felt too bulky and heavy. The second one was significantly thinner and lighter, so I bought one and have been using the hell out of it for the past year.

Bootstrap is not for Amazon or Facebook. We're talking about websites for wrestling events in the UK -- literally one of the sites in the gallery that the author links to -- and other such things that really do not need to present any sort

To the dismay of folks like myself, the half-baked critiques you describe are unchanged from the days when Apple was still smaller than their peers. Think of Slashdot's infamous iPod review, for example. The tech press just seems to lose it

Well, maybe that's the market saying they don't really want or need your app. A tough lesson to learn, but there's no reason to assume that the world wants something just because you took the time to build it.

Maybe the proprtions are screwed, but, shouldn't those entities be making more of the money? There are huge outlays involved in running a network and designing and building a mobile device. Also, I heard a rumor that Apple has a few softw
