Ugh, it would just be easier to sell the vuln than try to inform one of these clueless dinosaur companies about it. I know why companies like Amex build these giant fortresses around their communications, but they should be more cognizant o

Fair point on what is "mainstream". I was thinking in a US-centric way, I admit. Here the two best selling phones are iPhones (as far as I know). But after thinking about this more, I just don't think it is helpful to analogize to the iPod.

You're right, Apple does use specs when they make Apple look good. This is marketing we're talking about, after all. And checklists certainly are helpful when the presence or absence of a particular feature really does matter. But I just

Hell no. Maybe it's childish, but I just assume every one of them is a Goatse link. Probably at least 40% of them actually are. While I was at SXSW this year, I realized how easy it would be to print up a bunch of QR codes that point to wha

What you're really saying is that the total cost of owning the device is more than just the purchase price. I agree -- so how would an iPhone nano help?

The iPhone is already mainstream. And the 3GS is now free, it doesn't get more affordable than that.

Ah yes, the good old feature checklist comparison. Because that tells a customer so much about what it's actually like to use the thing they're buying. Strange how customer-satisfaction rates (or anything of the like) don't show up in the

Just the other day there was a discussion on HN about how the biggest uses of time on the iPad are email and web browsing. This doesn't have email and it remains to be seen how well the "cloud web browser" thing works in practice.

One of the people in the article says he's worked in other warehouse jobs before, and was never treated like a piece of crap (his words) until he worked at the Amazon warehouse. So there is a claim that this warehouse in particular is worse

Eh, you can always drop dimes anonymously if you know something. (I mean, you can now. Hopefully that will remain possible.) And there will always be people who talk to the police; they're just people with a tenuous understanding of risk ve

I have a feeling that this could just be a blip on the radar and Netflix's business is actually OK long-term, but I am one of the people who quit when they announced the price hike. Not because I didn't want to pay more, but because it was

I disagree, it is dying, though slowly as I say. Regardless of what Google is doing, the two top-selling smartphones and the best-selling tablet by far do not have Flash. These devices now have a huge install base, and that undermines what

Before the iPhone it seemed like everyone agreed that Flash sucked, but after iOS that was taken to be some kind of Apple fanboy position. Which is to say, plenty of people with no particular allegiance to Apple have been unhappy with Flash
