I asked someone who was published how Kindle Unlimited works. There's a pool of cash reserved for each month and authors are compensated a certain amount per pages read. There's a maximum number of pages, per customer, which wil

Amazon doesn't have control of all of the devices which support Amazon Video. The revenue gained from those devices is likely greater than the revenue lost from people pirating content who would actually pay for it.

I don't want a physical object, though. With the way I'm doing it the author receives payment and I get to read their book without having to find space on a bookshelf or carry a bunch of bulky books with me while I travel. Clearl

Honestly, this is my feeling on the matter. I definitely buy books from the Kindle store as it is convenient and the author(s) get paid. If Amazon decides to mess around with my licenses or take books away, I will just take to the high se

We got a /24 at our data center and the reputation was, unfortunately, poor. I went through all of the public reputation lists and asked to be removed. It took about three months of incremental effort, but the reputation for the enti

From what I understand a lot of those are in the rail yards and not at full speed. Here is a poorly made website which can generate reports on this: https://safetydata.fra.dot.gov/officeofsafety/publicsite/que...

Yes, I've been happy with ours and it was a great improvement over the last heat pump that we had. Habits are hard to break, though, and there's not much value (if any) of lowering the set-point at night during the winter months.

Obviously nobody can answer the long term cost differences between gas and heat pumps, since the cost of natural gas and electricity can change drastically over the lifetime of the unit. GP's comment was about the tech, though, and not

How long do those units last, though, and what is their operating cost over their lifetimes? TCO obviously includes more than the initial cost of the equipment.

Right, what I'm trying to say is that it is normal for it to be on 100% of the time when it is cold out. If you are used to gas heat which can turn on for 15 minutes, overshoot the set point, and then be off for the next 45 minutes, a

Your high end apartment must have had a low end heat pump installed. In the midwest a geothermal heat pump would work wonderfully. Also, they are designed to run constantly in order to maintain the set temperature -- it's not like a na
