They could be threading a very fine needle for a reason no one knows. Limiting airdrop seems like a lose lose. If they did it for the government, then it is a lose. If they did it to improve privacy, for some reason, then if that gets out i

Feels. I had to get VISA to block charges from Google because I moved and changed phone numbers without remembering to change one of my emails on a custom domain.

Idk my experience is much different. On the weekend, I would have a list of games I really wanted to play. Boot one up, play for a few minutes, feel like I should be playing a different one, switch and repeat. Or I would have hobbies or a

Elon has found the ultimate checkmate to fight the bot problem. No service, no bots.

That’s cool. I constantly get tripped up with day/month ordering. Maybe I am dumb, but it is a silly design to defend in my opinion.

Yes true. What’s your threat model though? If my government wants to own me they can do that without going to Apple. For myself I’m quite happy with this as it is a huge improvement over what we had. My only irk is that they called themselv

Alternatively you work hard for 5-10 years saving money and then find the fulfilling but less pay career/job.

Clearly humans are output machines and draining all creativity from their souls by burning the midnight oil is the way to build great products. I’m excited for the next wave of companies to prove this mindset wrong. I think some will but pe

The only products you listed which weren’t acquisitions are search and gmail. Search is exactly the problem Google was made to handle and Gmail.. well I don’t love gmail but it is a good enough product I guess?

In my experience, I have seen more power imbalance at small/medium sized businesses. Whereas larger companies you tend to get lost in the bureaucracy and have the ability to switch teams/orgs and get out of bad situations. HR is u

Pretty much this. Context matters so much. Even at a higher-level, imagine this at a FAANG vs. startup finding product market fit. The situations are completely different.

Essentially ‘b = a’ in the second example is equivalent to ‘b = &a[0]’ or assigning an array to a pointer. This is because if you use an array in an expression, it’s value is (most of the time) a pointer to the array’s first element. Bu

As an engineer, I do not look at Twitter today and think about how much more reliable it will be in the next year. Nothing Elon has done signals this.

Ha I hear this a lot but the alternatives I have seen used are frankly just as terrible. I much prefer Confluence to a hidden web of Google docs.

I sadly agree, I have seen standards of senior developer which make sense to me but even the orgs whom wrote them do not apply them evenly. In the past year I saw way too many intermediate/senior engineers almost hired as staff.

My suggestion.. avoid using a framework for now and learn CSS. Become comfortable with it. Then decide if you need a framework and what framework fills that need. https://css-for-js.dev is a good course.

The most challenging thing I found at a large tech company was building and maintaining relationships. Grabbing food with coworkers on campus is a cheat code for this. Similarly if I visited a new office, I was guaranteed to be able to do t

That was my experience. I went from an ergodox to a dactyl manuform and at first I found it great. But that went to good to decent. I did not jive with something about the curvature + layout, even though I could touch type at a good speed.
