I can’t confirm but it does look like a significant portion of current software engineering zeitgeist is developed for compartmentalized careerism with a good splash of non-value adding complexity. If that keeps food on the table and the wh

Because love vs hate is completely wrong way to view the product - unless it’s some pointless fluff. Users can be compelled to use a product because it solves a problem for them, but it may have features and bugs that cause them to hate it.

Exactly! You don’t want love, you want users to be compelled to use the product for whatever reason. I don’t love a hammer but it’s a super compelling option when I have some nails…

I thought the intent was to maximize diversification, not to saturate a single channel? Not sure what actually takes place and I may be mistaken.

" faking 750 artist names" Why would this be problematic? Artist commonly work under one or more pseudonyms. 750 is quite a lot for sure, but is there material difference between that and just a few?

I still default to pen and paper when approaching problem that lacks a predetermined fixed schema. Computer editors are not ready yet. There is nothing that is as powerful and immediate as pen and paper (and yes, I've seen a lot of the

Rendering the triangle meshes and polygon meshes is actually a ’nice to have’ tip of the iceberg in CAD/CAM/BIM flows and Blender doesn’t really help in the domain problem as such. In general design workflows feed data to downstre

Meh. Geometry kernels are oversold. Triangulate, CSG and triumph. CSG is the non-trivial part - and Manifold ( https://github.com/elalish/manifold ) is excellent at this. At least for consumer stuff where you anyway even

Any vanilla option with millions of users and some reputation for quality works for this. Windows works just fine out of the box. As does mac os. As does debian. With windows you ofc run the risk of purchasing your kit from a shitty vendor

44 here! This is what it’s to be middle aged! To me it’s not weird to do some Rust programming out of work. What is weird is if people believe it would be some sort of virtue. If it’s fun for the person, great! If it’s not fun and you are

At 24 I mostly played video games and avoided studying for my MSc (which I passed a few years later despite my best efforts to flunk it). Then I found what I really like, dropped out from a PhD program, and am now two decades later pretty g

You shouldnt need to ”keep up with a language”. A professional computer language should always have a ”LTS” mode where you can compile a decade old code without modifications. Otherwise the language is a toy.
