I love using that to debug Deno CLI commands and servers using a proper luxuriously designed debugger. So much nicer than the archaic TUI (PuDB) I use to debug Python.

I wouldn't want to buy such a modern computer and then use it without full graphics acceleration, just out of principle. But maybe my info on Asahi is out of date and they do have that.

Funnily enough, they've just added a toggle to disable pointer acceleration in this year's macOS Sonoma: https://i.redd.it/rezxi3gfwf4b1.png

According to you it's overwhelming and "not a real KB", but many will consider it a more natural UI for conversing than a web forum. That's what a lot of people are actually more interested in, just having a place to tal

Very cool that they've hired a full-time developer. Fresh has a great model, it just needs to be polished and elaborated further.

I dislike this general mode of defining an ADT by first having to create multiple separate nominal types and then combining them using another free-floating statement (e.g. 3 dataclasses and then a Union in Python). An ADT is conceptually o

Well we're talking about source code here. Apple has no expectation that applications for their platforms are open-source and so they don't get to see the source code either. Scanning of the binaries, "Notarization", Dev

Paying qualified people to audit code would not exactly be cheap. Needs to be done every time the extension is updated too.

Well I counted 0 references to Lisp or Scheme in the documentation, so it seems to be presented as novel.

Doesn't really count as language design if it's toy Lisp #9368. Language implementation exercise, yes.

Using a compiled language to develop a webapp has a pretty horrible workflow, i.e. needing to recompile and restart a binary to see any change. Of course, that can be mitigated/automated-away in several ways, but it's still a tens

Even once this is released, it's going to take a while for the OS and applications to find their groove. So rich people will essentially be paying to beta test this. Probably going to be unequivocally awesome 3 years from now though.

I encountered some real world unicode/emoji breakdown recently. I set my surname in a webapp to an emoji country flag because I needed a way to communicate where I was. Elsewhere in the app, it showed surnames as just their initial, e

Is it really that much of a crisis to have the "0 React in 2023 experience ... don't even know the modern hello world" when one can just spend some time on their (excellent) documentation site and get back up to speed?

Indeed, that was actually my inkling rather than the infrastructure cost angle. Though it doesn't make sense that it would be blanket applied, rather than being part of channel configuration for those creators who care about it.

It's ironic that just as the excellent https://github.com/ocaml-ppx/ocamlformat is seemingly closing in on a 1.0 after ~4 years of development, here comes the implication that it's not good enough.
