That really depends - as you know Google's motto is "don't be evil". And it is apparent that the other american telcos don't share this motto. If Google manages to stay not evil it is the only way they will be relevant in the future. I thin

I meant that outside of the cultural context we live in right now - 2012 + Europe/North America - the situation is different.

It was pretty quickly concluded that that guy was straight out bullshitting. The quotes are from OBL's videos that he made and leaked out to mainly Al Jazeera. They were made after all of this made happened, and OBL obviously knew to read t

Why not releasing it in the Ubuntu software store instead of making a new one? It would be the sensible thing to do if they cared about gamers on Linux. But I guess Steam is more about owning and controlling the channels of software sales a

The chromium project releases their updates for Ubuntu users thru a PPA, but Canonical also distributes stable packages. A mix that is working really well. God forbid #2, a system-wide system for downloading and updating applications is one

In a worst-case scenario, it would not be all to hard to write a script to extract the content of a debian package into a tarball.

I also found that out the same way, and it was owerwhelmingly great! Only that it was soulcrushingly slow. Firefox is quite snappy theese days (especially with pentadactyl, mmhm sweet jezuz) but TB was always a hog.

Hold them horses. There are many applications distributed ONLY after payment (called commercial) who are doing just fine. To sell an app and then let people have the source is just nice and kind.
