This is fantastic news. Between the Svelte 5 RC and Deno 2, I’ve been really enjoying working with the JS/TS ecosystem for the first time in a long time — it’s just been vaguely difficult keeping up with the (minor) tweaks in the RCs a

I followed this avidly through the early access period. It’s really nice. I hope the announcement of the new HoMM drives more people to try Songs of Conquest, because for me, it does a fantastic job of revising and modernising the old formu

Yeah that part is lovely. Having steam games “just work” for the most part is absolutely phenomenal.

Yes you are :). You just no longer have to set it up yourself. Steam runs Proton (their own WINE fork/distribution) under the hood for windows games.

Nintendo Online is something like $33/year where I live; Xbox Games Pass (the version with actual games) is $263.40 (the version with a much more limited subset of games is $155.40). I assume the price difference is similar in the USA;

Open Source doesn't necessarily mean free of charge, but even when it does (most of the time), plenty of people still choose to pay for open source products today (eg. Red Hat). A product being open source doesn't mean the people

Honestly at this stage, this stuff starts to feel like FUD. Every computer I use -- work laptop, personal desktop, personal laptop -- uses Wayland at this stage. Two are on Sway, one's on KDE. I cannot think of any show-stopping bug

I wrote a Shortcut that triggers this when I enter work mode, which triggers automatically on a schedule. So, during work, my phone is a more boring grayscale device with a limited set of apps readily available -- super helpful for reducin

I followed this path too; it all worked, but the magic vfio incantations can change kernel to kernel, so there was always a fair bit of maintenance involved. I'd use Proton for 95% of my games, so whenever I had to fall back to vfio&#

That's a shame. You can find documentation at https://bradfrost.com/blog/post/atomic-web-design/ on the methodology -- it's pretty lightweight, and is really just a vocabulary for discussing differ

You should consider Storybook. It has really changed my team's thought around frontend components -- they think in much more of an atomic design mentality now, build little stories out of their atoms, and then assemble those onto our

You may be looking for `sourcemap`s, which store a record of the transpilation that has happened and let you work backwards. Your browser's tools should fetch them by default if they're available, but depending on your frontend s

While I somewhat agree, the big repair that most people are going to want to do pre- or post- sale is replacing the battery. If that's something that anyone can do now, it'll improve resale value.

Introducing a towering pile of dependencies is _introducing_ a business problem; there is a cost of ownership to a dependency tree that only grows as it grows. Grabbing a library from somewhere and saying "problem solved, onto the next
