Utter bullshit. Or more politely - wrong take. OpenAI embeds itself further in public consciousness, arguably attracting more users therefore profiting. Enabling mass-production of Ghibli style without permission or monetary compensation is

I am strongly of this view. ADHD seems like a maladaptation in modern times, but in the right context and the right environment it is a superpower. Until this realization a few yrs back (when I was in my early 40s), life was a struggle. Now

I’m of the same view as you. 15% (or higher) of post-tax total is double-taxation. I do tip a hefty amount (50%+) on occasion if I feel the service is exceptional. I feel this is one way of incentivizing good service. Maybe the bar has shif

From a UX perspective, there’s really no way to measure “fewer ads”. Customers with subscriptions aren’t doing A/B tests and feeling satisfied that they’re seeing fewer ads. They’re seeing ads. Still a subpar experience. The “fewer ads

I will give any “Data Not Collected” app a fair chance. The design/UI look suite polished from the screenshots. Look forward to trying it out!

US player Skydio seems pretty interesting - for non-consumer applications anyway.

Do you perceive a difference in quality when you compare the content and comments on HN, vs. LinkedIn? Or if I understand your comment correctly, the quality of content on LinkedIn doesn’t really matter because you use it infrequently – as

It’s an arbitrary human rule, not fundamental knowledge. Quite understandable how someone may not have the interest or knowledge to know this nuance (perhaps to their own detriment). It’s somewhere along the spectrum of the knowledge of arc

I think the tricky bit here is “fair use”, an inherently subjective concept that’s a function of context. What’s fair in one context (meat computer training due to limitations of meat computer) may not be fair in another context (silicon co

I love the skeuomorphic timer design. The reflections and surface modeling are brilliant. I will be greedy and ask – could you share how you made it? Thanks!

Accurate. Abject lack of a cohesive vision/strategy, and no leadership to articulate and drive it. It’s a motley collection of fiefdoms competing for perf points.

I’m no artist, but I’m not sure I agree. As an example, Cubism (Picasso) or stuff by Pollack (arguably another ‘great’) seems quite distinct and therefore reproducible – at least visually if not physically (paint texture, etc.).

That’s because average residential construction has some tolerance for error (and is therefore poor quality imo). Sure - perhaps not plumb to within +/- 0.001 radians, but there’s still an expectation that the wall needs to be vertical

You are correct. But it’s also fair to say (imo) that AVP has made massive leaps. Are we now taking for granted the major leaps in nailing the interaction model (look and finger-tap), and delivering display tech that makes watching movies o

A bit chicken-and-egg. Another perspective: Google’s system incentivizes SEO spam. Search for a while hasn’t been about searching the web as much as it has been about commerce. It taps commercial intent and serves ads. It is now an ad engin

I don’t quite understand Tesla’s insistence on vision-only. I don’t believe vision-only “FSD” will ever be good enough for mass adoption – even if it performs at human-level. Autonomous systems need to be better than humans to gain acceptan

iCloud seems peerless from a privacy standpoint. I haven’t seen this mentioned much on HN (perhaps because it’s relatively new, an opt-in feature, and not open-source), but iCloud offers E2EE for most of its services. Of course, one has to
