That's absurd. I wonder why? Because they need it to make their family tree work? Does anybody know why?

An excellent article. Shared this with my family to help convey the craziness that's happening. Definitely the most impressive level of growth happening at any startup today. I'm curious to see where things head in the future!

This is insane wow. Thanks for sharing, I would have missed this otherwise. So many layers of mishandling here, and I am very surprised that the US Supreme Court didn't vote to block this. I really hope that we are able to have justice

Maybe the lead time is faster because refurbishing a plant is easier than building one from scratch? Just speculating but that comes to mind for me. If their need is immediate term then this could be the "throw some money at the proble

32B is a nice size for 2x 3090s. That comfortably fits on the GPU with minimal quantization and still leaves extra memory for the long context length. 70B is just a littttle rough trying to run without offloading some layers to the CPU.

Nit picking a bit but I prefer btrfs even if it's slower. Easier to work with. What bootloader is this using? Or is it just straight EFI booting? I helped write a guide a few years back that still is what I do using systemd-boot. http

As much as we all love to dunk on Intel, it's good to have competition. Even if it's via the support of the military industrial complex, we still all benefit when there are more companies making chips (especially at home for those

How much do the NVLinks help in this case? Do you have a rough estimate of how much this cost? I'm curious since I just built my own 2x 3090 rig and I wondered about going EPYC for the potential to have more cards (stuck with AM5 for c

All things in balance. It's often easier to get stuff done with more hands, and it's a lot easier when you're able to pay for people's time. There are plenty of counter-examples to this (writing OSS software, farming you

What's the point of having the GPU on die for this? Are they expecting people to deploy one of these nodes without dedicated GPUs? It has a ton of NVLink connections which makes me think that these will often be deployed alongside GPUs
