But why does the EU bureaucracy know that charging ports cannot be an important part of product differentiation? I would hope they wouldn’t legislate a common screen size or a common operating system... why legislate a common charging port?

Have to do this with Wolfram too. There’s a good mind and a good man behind all the puffery.

What illustrations do is focus on the highest information details (e.g. the shape of the leaves) and de-focus the lowest information details (the leaf is probably green, you don’t need to color that in). That way if you’re trying to see wha

As an Indian person I frankly don’t think there’s anything special about Indians. The immigrants you meet are not representative of the country as a whole... in India you will meet plenty of lazy imbeciles. It’s just that India has a vast p

> All sorts of talented musicians have done incredible things with MIDI. I mean Beethoven did some incredible shit without even MIDI 1.0, I’m not sure that’s a sensible line of reasoning.

I think your Kindle use case is single device but mine is across 4 devices so doing anything fully locally doesn’t really work. Unless each device would need to be trained.

You realize that one of the reasons the device feels so powerful is that it runs iOS. A 5x specified Mac Pro doesn’t have the feel of the iPad.

Amazing how much better vision Jobs had than anyone. From your comment looks like the entire senior team at Apple were nonbelievers.

The harm from having your life threatened and losing $10 is much more than $10. I’d vote for a political system where muggers are executed, and so would many others — you won’t find much support for catch and release.

It’s not the number of American bathrooms that’s fucked up, it’s their size. I’ve seen bathrooms big enough to host a dinner party. It’s insane. In student housing I had a perfectly usable bathroom that was very cramped and I’d love to have

You cannot maximize near term profits and long term customer trust. And the financing systems of the modern economy are set up for near term profits. Thus you cannot do right by your customers unless you are financed outside of the finance

I think you are misreading Trump. The flagrant openness is part of the power play. By doing it openly he denies plausible deniability to his foot soldiers and limits their future ability to defect.

That is not yet proven. Azure has plenty of other business, so there exist reasons to select it other than corruption. If there wasn’t an openly corrupt president waging a public war with Jeff Bezos there wouldn’t even be the suspicion of t

I think you’re underestimating how much fear people have of flying. If there’s a plane that is considered “dangerous” then people are going to avoid it. It’s not like airlines losing your luggage which people just put up with.

Yes, but in some situations the cab is all they have. Read the memoirs of taxi drivers, many have been published. Part of the high cost of being poor.

This is a point of view from someone who can afford alternatives. Taxis have long been the transport of last resort for the destitute/homeless and with Uber replacing taxis this does become a serious issue for many.

Please let’s not have politicians legislate connector hardware. People can vote with their wallets, Android has settled on USB-C and has captured a lot of market share. The market is working here.
