I’m with you on this, especially this year LPR seems to stand for license plate recognition (Flock and others) much more often.

Our family has owned a '97 Defender 110 (originally bought for my parents' surveying business) for about 16 years now and I still don't understand how some people used to buy these for status. Not having owned a Land Cruiser

Upper middle class Americans are weirdly obsessed about LR, especially the new Defender. Jaguar I'm not sure how it survives (if it even really does nowadays).

As someone who makes pasta 3 times a week, the comment sums up my experience with cooking better than the article. I don't really ever have issues with pasta getting too soft in my alla gricia, cacio e pepe or aglio e olio.

1. The author of the article is in the UK 2. Recording people without their consent still happens in lot of other countries other than the US. I bet I'm in tons of YouTube videos showing skiing in the Alps.

The interesting thing is that at least my shipments from Aliexpress to the EU were always invoiced at $3-5 no matter how much I actually paid for them, circumventing the need to pay tax and duty on packages. I wonder if they’ll do the same

I like Microcenter a lot but this reminded me that the one thing I had issues with was buying a 256GB M.2 SSD there (I think from their in-store Inland brand) and it only ever showed up as 1GB. I don't know if it was a QA issue or a RM

You are definitely right there, reddit has become more annoying because even old reddit now has chat pinging me all the time. And every single time I post a comment on my iPhone reddit I get reminded to subscribe to notifications for commen

Both Kagi and DuckDuckGo have search bangs (!aw) to search ArchWiki articles. I also have ArchWiki boosted in my Kagi settings.

I think people can aim to meet politically aligned people at non-political events/places. I met most of my friends in venues that "members of the opposite tribe" just don't frequent. And I feel like it goes for both side

I'm fully aware that Sweden and Denmark are different countries (I lived in Denmark for 3 years), but this reminded me of the reel of Swedes playing every time I visit IKEA, where they talk about how corruption is absolutely unthinkabl

In my case (when I was 13-14 and messing with stuff) Ubuntu might as well have been the only distro I've ever heard of and my experience with Windows 7 was that it did not run as smooth and fast as Linux on my poverty spec laptop.

I expected that USB cable to be $250+ but I see them for $50-$70 which is still super expensive for a USB2.0 cable. But I guess if you like the look of it, it makes sense.

Would you happen to know what the rule is on Yubikeys and the like? I assume if it's PIN-protected, it counts as a password but what if it's just set up for tap-to-unlock?

It's nice in NixOS, but my experience on MacOS isn't great. It could be due to me having an x86 2017 Macbook Pro with only 8GB of RAM but I regularly have to wait for bug fixes to update my system.

You probably know this but it's good to run a cluster with an odd number of nodes. You don't even need another full node, just a quorum node like a RPi.

What's the difference with letter Ch [0]? When it's capitalized at the beginning of the word, it also looks like uppercase C and lowercase h. [0] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch_(digraph)
