This reminds me of the drawing of WWII bomber planes with bullet holes mapped out, showing that the critical systems were where there were no holes, not because the hull was strong enough, but because a hit there would cause the plane not t

I remember at NAMM about 10 years ago, the company I worked for made a touchscreen-based mixing console. The CEO insisted to have Stevie Wonder try it. What surprised me is that he (SW) looked impressed doing so, moving virtual faders on

Even without snooping on domains (let alone entire URLs), it would be feasible to only observe the protocol part of `window.location` and send it as anonymized telemetry. But who am I kidding, given who we're talking about, I doubt tha

TL;DR, without the dramatic narration: Naive Bayes is an old spam filter that works on words independently from each other, ie not assuming any grammatical or semantical sense to what it processes. It makes it simple, but efficient as a fir

That's my one grief with tsc: it does too many different things. - Type checking - Transpiling to multiple formats (CJS/ESM, JSX and the like) - Generating declaration files (.d.ts) While there are modern alternatives for transpil

Sorry for being that guy, but this should probably be called "typechecking without transpilation". What ends up being written is not TypeScript syntax (which does require transpilation to run). JSDoc is awesome for incremental a

No, mains runs at 230V in Europe, but as said by sibling comments, after the power transformer and rectification, HT1 (the primary high tension power bus, usually feeding the tubes in the power section) can get in the 300-500V range in some

I use both Comlink and Dexie, for different purposes. Comlink gives a seamless abstraction over the worker "bridge", and Dexie does the same for the complex IDB API. I have run into performance issues with Dexie when querying lots

I built my tube amplifier (along with some effects pedals) for my electric guitar at 17. Now that I have kids, I wonder how my folks let me work with 400V of electricity and not freak out. Makes me wonder what kind of weird things my kids a

I like how it pushes you towards safety by requiring the code to run offline and off the disk. The resulting UX is not that great (though the explanation of what to do is clear), but it's a good step towards a little bit more security.

To add to the other two sibling comments pointing out flaws in those shortened terms, in British English it's spelled authorisation, so it would give "auths", which is even more confusing.
