I think the big thing going for it is it's low footprint and mostly universal existence on all servers I work on. For example, I'm working on a Hashicorp Vault server install and due to it's sensitive nature, I'm strongl

Home Assistant has home zones. You can trigger events based on being home, away, or the trigger between both states. My current favorite automation is to turn off my lights when I go to sleep by plugging my phone in to charge. The basic log

I know that TrueNAS/FreeNAS add a scrub by default. Possibly ZFS on Linux does now too. LinusTechTips recently did a video about how they installed ZFS on Linux and didn't have a scrub cron. They started to lose data before notici

I tried to set Nextcloud up with Collabora a while ago with docker. The connection was not obvious and had many issues with SSL, networking and DNS. The examples they provide still need a lot of tweaking. Setting up the right Traefik labels

This looks good, I've been meaning to backup my emails to the cloud for a while. For anyone interested, or has suggestions on how to improve my general backup process (DBs, pfsense router config dumps, bitwarden passwords etc), here is

I know it's not on the list, but look into IVPN. I liked the multi tunnel option. For sensitive things, you might want to chain VPNs, or use Tor through a VPN. Side note: All these ads for VPN services you see now really makes it seem

Just a idea, but support could be a reason to pick a 3rd party to manage these kinds of devices instead of installing the original project. You do open up extra avenues of compromise, but rolling out an OS project you are not really an expe

I think you either underestimate your own ability with tech or over estimate the general user. I still get calls from my parents when Firefox updates and a "new box" shows up. This is an extreme example, but this phone could be us

With Android 11, I think this breaks my use case. Android 11 apps, with a few exceptions, can only access files they create. You can add in a "grant all" access, but google limits that to certain apps, like file sharing apps. My u

It's my understanding we only measure antibodies, which hang around after an infection for a while. We still have "the pattern" to create more once our immune system learns how to beat something.

Why would you risk side effects (which are really low, but do exist) if you already have antibodies? Is argue you do "lose something" if you get a vaccine after having recovered from covid.

I feel awful for the people with religious or medical reasons they can't be vaccinated. I can't imagen having to potentially pick between a truly held religious belief and proving for a family.
