It depends on the route obviously but I find Southwest prices to be comparable to other non low cost airlines like Delta, American, etc. The few occasions I got bit by the $200 change fee on the others has made me consider Southwest much mo

There was a tool a long time ago that did this for an n64 emulator. I tried it and it was fun for a while but predictably would crash often. There was also a glitch art project that would corrupt specific segments of famous image and video

I watched Lex Fridman interview Richard Wolff and have spent 2 weeks going hard into marxist and anarchist theories and practice. Working through 2 books, a dozen browser tabs, interviews, etc. It's rare something catches my interest l

I agree. Sounds like OP shouldn't give up yet. It's their very first year and the range of experiences at different employers are so vast. Just hop around and see if you like other areas.

If you line it up with that big lake, you can see there's an Air Force base right nearby https://www.google.com/maps/@29.3385589,-100.8055747,12.72z?...

This is something I've been thinking about a lot lately. Especially in combinatorics and number theory, there are databases like oeis, LMFDB, etc that contain tons of data with the ability to generate more algorithmically (sometimes ea

Strongly agree. See artists such as Domi and JD Beck, Snarky Puppy, Jesus Molina, Sungazer, Greg Mehldau, Sullivan Fortner... The list goes on. There are some extremely great jazz musicians out there today.

This is where I am. I'm remote senior level and got offered principal but 3 days in office which would mean moving cities and WAY more pressure in a department that's had issues. Probably a 50k raise but I'm doing fine as is.

I am lucky to have a friend who's less stingy than me. He bought one and let me play with it for a week. I loved it. It's intuitive, fun, and very powerful. I usually work in a DAW and have an Arturia Microbrute, so I thought it w

Part of it is finding a company that doesn't work you to the bone. I have a normal 9-5 in a very technical field but the PTO is generous, nobody is counting my hours, and as long as I deliver reasonably in the timeframe they're lo

I love the idea of PRQL and having a DuckDB extension will make it a lot easier to play with since I'm already using that for my hobby data science projects.

I guess I see this post as more about profiling, discovering unintuitive differences, and exploring python internals than offering 20ns optimizations. I personally appreciated it.

Or for airlines like Southwest that have an exclusive contract with Boeing and would require an enormous cost and effort to introduce any other manufacturer.

What are you talking about? From what I can read here there is no syntax change. Just a framework for faster execution. Plus, Python's usecase has HEAVILY evolved over the last few years since it's now the defacto language for mac

Idk how the devices work but if you have to replace them to get the extra capacity, it would still cost the airlines money, and the FAA has historically been very friendly with airlines.

Just wanted to say I appreciate all the Julia content and evangelism you put out. It's kept me excited for the language and is a big reason I still use it for most of my personal work.
