   The reason is likely because discrete resistor values are trimmed in circuit by placing a much larger value in parallel to bring the overall value down.

   Many semiconductor manufacturers publish application notes with partial to full designs. Linear Technology app notes were probably the best example of this.

   The IP is too valuable to hand over to the mainland. Not just of the fab, but the equipment and clients.
