The issue is that the client needs to access the private key, tell web server where various temporary files are during the certificate generation (unless the client uses DNS mode) and tell the web server about a new certificate to reload. T

Rust provides file!, line! and column! macros that expands into a compile-time constants that the compiler embeds then into the executable. This way no source map at runtime is necessary as the relevant errors are constructed from those co

Latency spikes are the issue. Modern Java mostly solved this, but tuning GC settings is still the thing especially when Java runs on a big server.

I have C++ code from 1997 that I occasionally compile. So far it runs. 10 yeas ago compiling with -Wall exposed an inconsequential bug and that was it. I suspect when it stops to compile it will be from an absence of a particular X11 librar

Java version updates typically change GC behavior. If one has highly tuned setup there is no guarantee that a newer version would not regress. Another problem is crashes. Java runtime is highly reliable, but still bugs happens.

The web server needs access to the key to sign the reply so the key is accessed all the time. With automation LE style one typically creates an account with LE when one renews the key so there is no need to have an account password or simil

The automated setup makes it less likely that the private key leaks. That alones makes it a reasonable justification to shorten the validity timeframe to force automation. And then if a certificate authority knows that it’s certificate root

There are serious theoretical objections to Helion approach so I am very sceptical to their approach. Stellarators on other hand do not have any known theoretical obstacles and avoid the problem of plasma instabilities.

Services rarely need timezone done. So if one is OK with supporting only UTC, Go runtime works fine without any timezene data. We use a minimal image to run in on AWS Nitro VM and it contains only kernel, init.d, the Go application file and

What I really like to see is stack traces annotated with values of selected local values. A few years ago I tried that in a C++ code base where exceptions were disabled using macros and something like error context passed by references. But

Result type still requires quite a few lines of boilerplate if one needs to add custom data to it. And as a replacement of exceptions with automatic stack trace attachment it is relatively poor. In any case I will take Rust Result over C++

At some point I tried to run a few small websites dedicated for activism (couple of Wordpress instances, a forum and custom PHP code) using docker. It was time sink as updating and testing the images turned out to be highly non-trivial. Ev

But how does the generic code know the name by which the field is known in the struct that contains the field? Is it supposed to be passed as an extra parameter to the generic function?

In Go in many cases channels are unavoidable due to API. As already was pointed out in other threads a good rule of thumb is not to use them in public method signatures. The valid use case for channels is to signal to consumer via channel c
