Simply not true in my experience. Most people in my country have children yet react strongly to completely irrelevant events like a team they "support" winning or especially losing a football game. That's way worse than compl

Complaining about trivial problems is in no way limited to people without children. In fact, in my experience, people with children take this to an entirely new level when those are things that affect their child.

You find such people in software development circles? I haven't met a single one so far. Sure, there are plenty of people who are unaccomplished otherwise so they treat raising a child (something the majority of the population succeeds

The meaning of that rule is generally "if you consume less calories than you use, it is physically impossible not to lose weight". Which is definitely true. You can eat more than you use and not gain weight if you are not metabo

One more thing (can't edit the other comment), I am talking about the late 80s / early 90s, not the 70s. I am not from the US, so it is possible that the "protect the children" mentality was adopted later here. Kids were

I have no real stats, but I can tell you that from the hundreds of kids at my school zero died from getting hit by a car. There was exactly 1 accident-related death and it was while playing sports, and this was a much older kid (like 12-13)

It is possible. In fact, we have proof suggesting it's possible (me and millions like me who grew up that way and lived) while we have no proof suggesting otherwise. It's not like children died en masse due to being allowed outsid

Seriously, sneering at VB6 in 2017 is elitism? Using it today comes with countless drawbacks, but is actually not any easier than using C#. I used VB6 for all my Windows applications when my alternative was to use C++ + MFC or Win32 which w

Parents would be away for 4-5 hours at most while I was at home I guess, but we'd be without parents for more than that because we'd go out and do stuff with friends even when parents were home. Parents were kind of there to fulfi

This is a fallacy inherent to the modern mentality of obsessing over your child's safety that is likely counterproductive on average. Children of school age DO NOT need babysitting. When I was a kid, everyone's mom worked and we k

You have an incentive to exchange dollar bills for some other form of assets. This is easier for the rich, and richer people tend to hold a lower percentage of their wealth in cash. So the system you propose is regressive; it is actually le
