Oh you bet! Some of the most flamboyant stuff I've ever seen happened in scout camps. The old scoutmasters HATED it so much! Which was part of the fun to be honest.

This used to be the case, but suburbia is spreading almost everywhere now. I don't think you are ever more than 100 miles from a Walmart in most of the USA. Unless you are intentionally finding a remote location in Montana or Alaska...

Diesel is awesome. It doesn't go bad like gas does. This is part of why rural areas tend to have more Diesel implements and vehicles than urban areas. You can park a 1000 gallon tank of diesel and not worry about it turning into varnis

I think plug in hybrids are the best compromise we could ask for at this point given current infrastructure. If we see a large public investment in charging, I think we would be seeing electric car adoption across the board. But until that

Worst today, but I don't see that lasting long. Toyota tends to iterate and I wouldn't be surprised to see them dominate in the next 5 years. Unless it's just another "Compliance Car"

Lately I've been watching channels like Scary Interesting and Brick Immorter. The diving disaster stories have really hit home about how dangerous water can be. It's amazing how fast someone can go from perfectly fine to stone col

Ioniq has MUCH better fast charging. Their high voltage batteries allow them to charge at 104 miles per 10 minutes or 640 miles per hour. The new Toyota and Hondas only charge about 60 miles per 10 minutes or 360 miles per hour. Also, I

Toyota just announced the Beyond Zero series of BEVs starting with the bZ4X. It's a 71kwh 355volt and charges at level 3. But the Hyundais are absolutely amazing. Also, plugin hybrids have gotten to be VERY good. Honda also just releas

While I agree with just about everything you are saying, rural Americans definitely have the ability to charge their electric vehicles. In fact it's a huge selling point when the nearest gas station is 30 miles away. Even if you don&#x

I kind of wonder if high interest rates are starting to cut into Tesla investment. They have only been profitable since 2019 and peaked in late 2022. At $17 billion and a market cap of half a trillion, that's only a 3% profit over inve

Yes, because it's more of a government backed corporation. Although it has stockholders that get paid dividends, it could be entirely funded by federal contracts. 33% of Boeing revenue is from military contracts and I imagine that figu

It's also trivially easy to culture MRSA. A lot of university micro-bio classes induce anti-biotic resistance in e-coli as an experiment for under graduates.

Evidence indicates that speed limits need to be enforced by some other method. Nearly 1/3 of all fatal accidents are a result of speeding. Speeding is so commonplace that people barely even pay attention to it. Seatbelt laws are import

So, you are driving in such a manner that you cannot stop in time for toddlers, deer, or broken down cars. Perhaps if you were driving slower you would not need to swerve into oncoming traffic to avoid road hazards?

So would you say that Chevy Bolt drivers tend to drive slower? And are thus safer? Why should douchebags be able to buy cars that drive 100+mph on public roads?

One thing to keep in mind is when is the breaking point? If one person drives 100mph, should every single driver match that speed? What about 90? 80? What is the cutoff? There is a reason there are speed limits. They are the cutoff.

There is a reason that, during an emergency, people are urged to walk and not run. People panicking and running like a herd of gazelle results in accidents. Accidents clog exits and roads preventing escape.

If you are in the path of a police car or ambulance, you are required to slow down and pull over to the right. Death rates per mile have a loose correlation to vehicle size. However, engine size has a high correlation to deaths per mile. Sp

Requiring speed governors on all vehicles is the only thing that makes sense. You would probably require installation by a certain date with a phasing in of activation for geofences and radio speed limits.
