My least favorite form of Effort-Dumping is rubber duck effort dumping. Where someone pulls me into a call just to talk to me like I'm a rubber duck. Then proceeding to dump the entire problem on my shoulders and leaving.

I think this was the biggest mistake that Java made. Breaking reverse compatibility after Java 8 means that thousands of organizations will never leave that version. There is an entire industry based around maintaining Java 8. Eventually th

I believe in peace as well. I will happily recommend that Russia should end their war of aggression against Ukraine and return all territories that they have captured. Question is, who will bell the cat?

Typically this would require something to be gained from engaging in nuclear war. If you bring out the nukes then you are pretty much asking to be utterly destroyed. Sure you may get some of your enemies in the meantime, but you won't

I think the most depressing thing I've ever seen is The Expanse. It really highlighted what space colonization would be like with our current economic and social system. I can only imagine the kind of hell that would be created by a Tr

In my experience, the best stand ups happen when management doesn't attend for some reason. If management is there, it's just a progress report. When management isn't there, you get a ton of discussion and knowledge transfer.

I always schedule documentation for when the code becomes stable. It is a very rare occasion that management lets us spend even a single sprint on it. There is almost always another fire to put out.

We at least need an abandonment clause to copyright law for software. If you no longer produce copies of a thing for sale, then you lose the copyright after a certain reduced period.
