Refreshing viewpoint. I agree with both suggestions. I hope as you do that humans start limiting their population. It seems to me that we can either breed un-controllable and have the maximum number of humans living awful lives fighting for

You are correct that we don't understand EXACTLY how this works. But we do have an increasingly good idea, and it is now very widely accepted that increasing CO2 levels are due to fossil fuels, and that they are going to make life for

I imagine sugar producers are far more concerned about the current focus on the health effects of heavy sugar consumption. Surely reduction in general demand is going to have a greater impact on prices than a small trend towards non-GMO sug

There is obviously something unbalanced in the pharma business, and I think it is one of the corner cases where unbridled capitalism fails - perhaps because it is a need, not a want, so it is not discretionary spending. My instinct is that

Good read. I like his point that you should read your inbox oldest first, or else you reward the most annoying correspondents. This also encourages the "handle it once" ethos, because you need to traverse older items to get to new

Yeah, but pricing is ten times Appengine's (actually more - recently we don't seem to be being charged for email at all). Amazon SES is the only service with a comparable cost that I've found. I'd love to hear of other a

We wouldn't use it. To me, the whole point of Appengine is to abstract out system administration. GCE (like AWS) abstracts out the systems, but not the administration - you suddenly become responsible for all the scaling, fault-toleran

Very true. I cut my teeth on Turbo C and C++ Builder back in the ninties, when they were a very reasonable cost - tens of dollars, I think. They made all their software much more expensive at the same time they killed the Borland brand - ju
