I think scaling is more about serving demand - whether you you use more resources on a single box, more resources by using more boxes or use the same resources more efficiently you're still scaling.

When you purchase a nexus device, it's IMEI, effectively a serial number, can be linked to a Google Account so that the first boot experience can prefill stuff - I think this is optional but it's been a while.

Hopefully they didn't tie their integrity/authenticity enforcement to their encryption... Although I'm guessing the whole segment is loaded into ram and verified by the bootloader at boot then never touched again.

A slightly easier option is "powercfg -energy" - does a 1 minute sample and spits out a little html report. Also includes some info about driver/firmware limitations, wake up sources, supported power states etc.
