Amen. Building features isn't monetizable. I wish all these companies would look at what happened to companies like LimitOne. If Google can throw a couple of developers at it and build it on their own, even if they decided to buy you out to

Will it strangle Web growth? No. Video and other multimedia? Yes. I think this decision on the part of providers like TWC has more to do with getting in bed with the MPAA and the RIAA than it does about costs or high-bandwidth users.

I have to admit I was more than a bit shocked to see that Bezos co-led this round. Unless he's really hoping that since it's one of the most visible sites using AWS he really wants to see it succeed?

I know of at least one coming with another rumored to be in development. Without the cutesy factor of Plurk.

You have to wonder why you'd want to base an emergency network on such an unstable platform, though.

That's the life of a technology writer. I'm usually working several different stories at the same time. It's a mess, but it works better for me than trying to retrieve bookmarks. I keep meaning to check out one of the new research tools to

It's fine on its own, but any time a site is using Flash or, heaven forbid, an applet, it would jump right to the head of the line, even with 70 or 80 tabs open in FF2.

Look at the patent app again. It's not just privacy settings; it's the blueprint for the mechanism that the Data Portability group has been talking about. That's why Zuckerberg doesn't want Facebook to really play their reindeer games. They

FF 3. Just hope they get the bug fixed QUICK. Safari is a huge resource suck and horks on a lot of sites I use.

In the Sun release in May of last year, it was something like 4-5% of the code and most of it had to do with graphics stuff: font & image rasterizing, etc. which makes sense. I think that's why most of the developers didn't care much on

The intern replied with the TIME 100 article when asked about TechCrunch. I thought that was a bit over the top, and a dig at the CEO for DARING to not know who Mike Arrington is.

I use a password manager, and auto-generate a new 12-char pwd for every site I register with. Of course, if anyone would like to hack into my bank info and assume my debt, I will be more than happy to oblige. ;)

There are several platforms already existing that can help you get up and running faster: GigaSpaces and Appistry both come to mind, but they are geared toward Java, .Net, and C++.

Some of us bloggers are actually former developers, and do know what we are talking about. Unless Twitter does something drastic, they will end up a footnote of what not to do with a start-up. I know that PG has said before not to worry abo

Sanj, the point is that you are pitching media or VCs or someone whose attention you need to grab quickly. If you are talking to someone in the media who doesn't know what forums or Blogger are about a tech start-up asking for coverage, you

Sure, because then all the git coders will replicate that same error again and again in production code. You can't assume that all readers are smart enough to spot the error.

As a blogger, sure, it's totally acceptable. My best advice would be not to blanket every single blog with a form letter. Take the good with the bad in any review and don't whine in comments if they don't like it, just accept it as suggesti
