I don't disagree really - and the president issue is somewhat separate given its political nature and obvious historical context. As I said, I agree in the common case - I just see people generalize and include in their examples people

I think this is true in the common case, but I thought Bezos was raised by a single mom who had him at 17 and his step father was a cuban immigrant? https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/policy-news-views/statement...

Yeah living in SF (or just the bay area) is pretty key. AirBnB, Uber, Tesla, FB, SnapChat (LA based, but a lot of friends moved there to join friends from the peninsula and knew about it because of being here/near Stanford), Lyft, Snow

I hope IntelliJ eventually figures out remote dev. Benefits are more obvious on massive code bases that take a long time to build, test (or really just do anything). IntelliJ will get stuck indexing forever and can be frustrating to use - h

I've seen both types of org layouts where I've worked (we moved from one to the other). Initially separate QA teams that would write tests, a subset of which might do manual testing in the UI. The feedback loop for this was brutal

I tend to agree with you - but keybase made a similar argument and then sold out their users to Zoom (with all of the concerns around the CCP's influence over Zoom). When that happens there isn't much recourse except to jump ship.

Ha - that's great. They went through the work to make some shitty jam to sell to make it harder for WB to argue they're squatting on their IP. I'm glad WB just used their existing site.

The US has a wild variety of drink laws that vary by state. Many states have government run stores, some states allow beer and wine at grocery stores, but liquor must be sold in a separate store. Some states have laws that ban sales after 8
