I understand why pledge is useful when a trusted program is trying to lower it's own privilege to limit the blast radius. However I never really quite understood the idea of limiting the permission of untrusted programs hoping that it

Isn't all open source built from the time of experts? (Not experts in chess, but in programming, design, etc) :) I mean in theory, nothing prevent a professional chess player to make a nice video lesson and share it for free. And there

100% this. Being compatible with nodejs API makes it possibly useful, unlike some other projects which want to throw away the huge npm ecosystem. Why on earth would anyone use JS (or even TS) server side if not to benefit from the ecosystem

Coincidentally, we have just published this today, if you want to play with PQ crypto in JavaScript https://github.com/Dashlane/pqc.js

This assumes an infinite market. If you address a market with only 10000 consumers, it's unlikely competition can succeed with prices assuming 100000 sales.

Don't worry, I was just providing suggestions to be helpful, not demanding or expecting anything (I don't use Apple products, so I won't be one of your customers no matter whether it's OSS or not) and I'm not taking

The part that is open source is open source, but the part that is proprietary is not open source. Which is why I think a yellow tick at least would be fairer, because it's only partially open source.

I think it's perfectly fine to do non open source work as long as one does not pretend to be open source. I had a quick look to your website at in all fairness, it's pretty clear that the product is proprietary and paid (at least

One important thing I would look at is "is there independent managed hosting options", in case at some point you have better things to do than managing database and having to care if it's the right hardware and kernel version

I agree for recent history at least. With that said, recent releases also haven't brought life changing changes either, so the incentive to upgrade remain low even if it's mostly painless.
