Not knowing about it can also qualify you as a very senior dev (though not very up to date with recent improvements) as the form tag was apparently added to the (then informal) HTML format around 1994 ;)

I'm curious, in which context does it matter? I know that this is a very cultural thing - as an example here in France it's completely unimportant, you would simply address kids (or at least younger kids) a bit differently than ad

It's the same in French, and I came to the conclusion that it must be for symmetry reasons: you are the brother in law of your sister in law (switch/replace genders as appropriate). I think it makes sense.

Well there is a difference between "purchase a computer that is good enough for your needs and keep it as long as it's good enough" (which I assume is the case for OP) and (quoting parent comment) "Buy the best tools you

It's interesting and very sad how all the comments seem to ignore completely the positive impact of repairing on the environment :( No wonder why we are in such a bad situation now.

Rebasing (possibly shitty) patches from the SBC vendor to a recent kernel can be non trivial in my experience (as someone who have 0 knowledge of the Linux kernel code, so I'm a good baseline to define what's trivial ^^). And yes

What is rate limited on docker hub is fetching the image manifest, rather than the blobs, so that wouldn't work I think. https://docs.docker.com/docker-hub/download-rate-limit/#defi...

If you are on Linux, there is the fantastic podman option "--userns keep-id" which will make sure the uid inside the container is the same as your current user uid.

By default container images are not signed (there is notary, but it's not commonly used - maybe notary V2 will change that - and I think the signature changes depending on the registry it's hosted on anyway?) which make it inconve

You don't need valid production certificates, just valid certificates for that domain name, signed by a CA you trust. The nuance is that you can use a local CA to get a valid certificate, rather than using a production one (which you d

We use pnpm and meta-updater to keep the TS project references in sync. An example of a project setup that way is pnpm's repo itself. https://github.com/pnpm/pnpm/blob/main/.meta-updater/src

It's really mostly the cities, outside of the city management is really secondary (at least in Caesar and Zeus which I have played the most). I strongly recommend the whole series, they are really great games.

As far a I know there is no reward in traditional banking to whoever can waste the more energy doing useless computation (creating a wasting race). It's probably not great, but at least it's not completely stupid.
