Your correlation between iteration cost to net positive for users is completely false. It might be a net positive for developers but certainly not users. You sound like the kind of developer who has only ever worked with an electric screwdr

Yes that makes sense, I wish there was a market for these kinds of systems at the arduino form factor / cost point with more of a hobbyist bent.

Does anyone make a c64-ish SOC with SID style sound limitations, HDMI out, 1/8" audio out, 8-16 GPIO pins, good documentation and development environment (C/ASM)? I wish a simple (restrictive) mid-range system like this exist
