Twelve inches ? If that's true it seems like it would get ruined quickly by roots, animals, vehicles, lawn mowers, and basically everything else.

Sure... if we ever get there, I could potentially see that. But we're nowhere close to that. Also, if it's being used to establish hierarchies, I could still see that proof being important.

The person you replied to already covers that in the following sentences. Why else would you need to prove your education except for work?

I tried fastmail once when I was looking for a new provider. Free trial, they said. So I created an account, switched over my MX records, changed my mail client, etc. Seemed fine. That is, until I received an email from my father. I couldn&

That's where "No Trespassing" signs come into play. IANAL but from what I understand you can't normally get sued if a trespasser does something stupid on your property. Obviously, thinks like tiger pits or other things

Another article I read on this had a (IMHO) clever hack to the problem; the interlopers brought a ladder and oriented it so that they could climb from one corner to the other without the possibility of touching private land. But that doesn&

I'm curious; what are the benefits of using syncthing over the git plugin, if any? I understand if you already use syncthing for other stuff, but having the power of git for my notes is quite nice.

He searched the printer logs . Presumably when Word sends stuff to the printer, it doesn't bother with all the extraneous garbage it puts in files. Printer communication hasn't changed much in decades.

You != your email address. Yes, a specific server or address can be "banned". But there is nothing stopping you from just opening another gmail / yahoo / whatevermail account.

I think that's called Matrix and we already have that. Anyway, good luck getting Signal to federate with you until you have enough of a user base that they're losing users to your backend. They have zero reason to want to do this,

I find it interesting that the option to opt out of Stories exists in the Chat settings . Apparently they couldn't be buggered to even create a link to view the settings for Story inside of the Story UI's context menu. But hey, I

Not likely to happen. While it's OSS, there's still a central Signal backend, and they don't like clients other than their own to connect to it. Any fork would eventually need to have their own backend, and now you're ba

It should be noted that math sort of breaks down when you actually hit c . As I understand it, the math is a bit undefined as you're effectively past the asymptote. Technically, I've always read that light has no reference frame.

Part of that missing atmosphere was that in D1 (and to a lesser extent D2), you were a weak human and death was around every corner. You might walk into a room and near-instantly die. You spent a lot of time running for your life. Contrast
