I work for a Canadian hospital, and I can say that the physical location of the servers hosting any data we have is very important to us. We won't let our data be stored on servers in America due to privacy concerns.

Yes, but recreating the PS2 is an order of magnitude more complicated than a PS1, which is still a massive undertaking for an individual. Even supposing we had a cheap enough FPGA, who would write the HDL to simulate a PS2?

I'm really happy to see all of these projects to decompile classic games, and do byte for byte matching to prove equivalence. For those who aren't aware there's a rapidly growing scene for decomp projects, largely in N64 game

It's the same premise because they're ideas based on the same thing. The OP mentioned The Borrowers as inspiration. Well The Secret World of Arrietty is based on The Borrowers. I think it's even called something like "Bo

Not that it's what you're looking for exactly. But if you like the idea of being as tiny being in a home with massive humans, check out Mister Mosquito on the PS2, or Chibi Robo on the GameCube.

I actually had almost that same experience back in the 90's when I bought my first gaming console with my own money. I bought a PS1, and Final Fantasy 8 with all the money I had save up for months to get, only to find out when I got ho

The theory of that, and the reality of it are two different things. As someone who has been on both sides of this in Ontario, I can tell you for a fact that blind bidding results in people over paying, and never knowing by how much. The str

PSIO definitely isn't beloved, I'll give you that. I think the main hate of PSIO is because their product always felt like a beta to users who expected something more polished. I'm not going to say either is right or wrong, b

To be fair to the GDEMU situation you touched on for the Dreamcast, the reason the community took the side of the cloners was because it was nearly impossible to get a hold of the original authentic design. He made the ordering process as t

Yeah, I'm pretty sure most game devs of that era were doing something similar. It seems that once games went 3D, it was too impractical to do assembly anymore. So basically a lot of early PS1/N64/Saturn games were likely some

Having been out of PHP for several years now, I assume that needs a === instead of ==? It's unfortunate that we have the need for a ===, but it's no different that JS in that regard.

That's yoo generous of a definition. I would prefer if the software I used didn't crash, or have any bugs, but mistakes get made sometimes. By your definition, that's malware. I would say malware is software who's primar

For coding, I'm not sure I could go back to greyscale IDE colours. I love syntax highlighting helping me quickly identify different parts of code at a glance. I would love to try though, might see what the price is first.

Very interesting. What was the development like for you? How much time did you have to do this? How experienced were you at the time? Were you ever upset to hear it wasn't loved by users, or was it something you were upset at having to

I don't think so at all. Just because better AI exists today doesn't invalidate earlier efforts. That would be like taking umbrage at people calling the BBC Micro a computer because we have more powerful hardware today.

Agreed. The amount of books at these stores has drastically dropped, and they rarely have what I'm looking for anymore. The crap they do have is now devoted to targeting a demographic I don't belong to. It's hard to argue wit

I believe the grandparent comment was in regards to people in your home treating you as if you were "at home". This means your kids/spouse would ask you to do something for them that they wouldn't do if you were "at
