/usr may be pronounced "user" for convenience, but it was conceived as "Unix System Resources directory", not "user directory".

Penicillin was discovered by accident in 1928 by Scottish scientist Alexander Fleming. The first cure by penicillin was in 1930, but it wasn't until well into 1942 that volume production and wide use began.

It's hard for me to "get into" developers who don't know how the system works. I don't mean they have to be full-fledged sysadmins, but it just seems natural to me that they should have a decent understanding of the

It has enjoyed success during its lifetime, but the userbase has looked like an upside-down hockey stick for some years now. I would say that having your userbase drop from a dominant majority of the market to well below 10% of the market

I would get a Teensy 3.2 and start programming bare metal with Arduino. You could also start with Arduino on AVR, but the Teensy gives you a lot more headroom and performance and a very small physical size for very small $. Arduino is jus

A technical tour de force, but the premise is flawed. "I" have no representatives. "We" have representatives as a group. The mob who rules by force of numbers; all strictly democratically acting. Right off the top, the p

Commercial jetliners never fly at 18,000 m (nor at 515 m/s). Max is about 11,000 m or so, and about 250 m/s. It would be interesting to know if consumer GPS ever worked aboard the Concorde.

As many have noted, this is not UBI; full stop. Also, you can't "test" something that is supposed to be universal by definition, on a micro scale and to a selected subset.

Parsing columns of text with awk or any other text tools is vexingly problematic. How do you even define "column"? What if columns contain whitespace? How do you differentiate that from the whitespace between columns?

Once I checked out the reference at the end of README.md, I like it. I could try to object that the "magic" has been moved into the addressing modes of the mov, but that would be a bit arbitrary. If you focus only on direct memory

Why promulgate the absurd premise that doubling the RAM would cut the battery life in half ? As the article is at pains to say, 16 GB of RAM only consumes 1.49 A, while the CPU is 4.61A, and the display is a very big power hog. I am not in
