SQL is the rosetta stone between many data storage engines. If NoSQL is going to succeed, I would argue that they will need to standardize their query languages. There countless paradigms that prove my point. The web won out over the des

You know what, it's not really that much better. It's better, but it's not so much better that I can really tell that one is written by a computer. If you factor in the costs, time to market, and other factors, I can easily see the autom

You would be surprised how hard it would be to lose billions of dollars. That kind of wealth is usually locked up pretty tight such that access is only available to some trickle of dollars coming out of the interest, trust funds, etc... If

I wouldn't say he should stop blogging. It's a good way to connect with people from the woods. He's putting himself out there. That's tough, but through doing it, he can learn more than he would if he didn't.

No, but it is necessary to show that every effort has been made to protect the trade secrets and obfuscating code is one step in that direction. I am no lawyer, but that's what the lawyers told me.

No. I obfuscate it all before I upload it. Call me paranoid. Not only is it a risk to have the code compromised, but if sufficient steps aren't taken to control access to trade secrets, then they can't be called trade secrets. IP has val

This sounds like an accurate assessment from someone who doesn't own the code. You get paid to write the code, so it means nothing to you if a competitor steals the code and starts a similar business. Or what if a competitor steals the co

Yep. Unfortunately, this is becoming more and more true. Typical computer users just don't know the difference between "safe computer use" and "unsafe computer use." It's the same as human viruses. If you do things that are safe, you dra

I don't believe anything in these articles says that peak oil isn't a reality, they only push back the peak. The only thing that could refute peak oil is confirmation of abiotic oil production. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenic_petr

Since 1987 I have personally completed over 40,000 one-on-one, face-to-face sessions. So that's at least 5 of these interviews every single day of the year for 22 years. I'm not really buying it.
